So I've been having odd framerate issues on my machine lately and decided it would be a good idea to update my video card's drivers (NVidia 7600GT). I download the version for my machine (Vista 32 bit) but when I went to install it I was told (by the install program) I don't have Vista. So figuring i somehow got confused I try the 64 bit version, same message. So I go th their forums to search only to be told that the search flood control has locked me out and to wait 20 seconds. Sure enough I get the exact same fucking error 2 minutes later. I am officially going back to ATi cards only tomorrow.
tl;dr: Nerd Rage, Anyone else have issues updating NVidia drivers?

Yeah this is absolutely the last straw for me, I'm thinking ATi Radeon HD 4870... figure I may as well upgrade... anyone see problems in this equation? Both are PCI Express cards, not sure if theres some kind of bus or cache issue i need to worry about.
Second, I have an SLI enabled mobo (Asus, dont remember the exact model), worth it to go dual cards? I do fairly heavy animation editing on occasion (Blender, FTW)

I think updating my Nvidia drivers is what brought about the Bucket O' Shit phenom of '07. For those not knowing what I'm saying, my computer basically shit the bed and crashed on a consistently random basis, making small and large tasks alike very difficult. It resulted in a trashed bucket of SHIT computer, and a shiny new Dell that allows me to write these words today. This all began when I tried updating my video card drivers from their website. I personally find their general lack of support for tards like myself absymal. I don't speak Zarvox for fuck's sake, Nvidia.
I've had two horrible Ati cards before (one was that cheap Mobility bullshit that Dell slaps into their laptops and calls 'em ATi so they're only 1/2 to blame), but Nvidia cards have definitely given me alot of grief as well. So far the new 8800GT hasn't hurt me, but let's give it some time. I'm not going to update the fucking thing this time around.

stay away from SLI, it is not worth the money or heat. spend a little extra and just get a better card instead of 2 of them.

NVidia is a complete pain in my rump. I have probably had more systems in our company get a BSD from problems with the NVidia card and/or driver than everything else put together (at least it feels that way; I don't have exact numbers).
I will avoid NVidia whenever possible.

That's where I've gotten so far... that fucking 8800 looks good too, but i refuse to buy another Nvidia, im tired of getting fucked over. That being said, heat isnt an issue with my case, 5 fans and a wide open side. I can't seem to find a picture of it online, and taking a picture requires a lot more effor than I'm willing to expend so just trust me.

i read somewhere 40% of vista's BSOD's came from bad NVidia drivers.
that might have been published by ATI, but i swear i read it somewhere

is as close as I can get to a pic of the case, but it is indeed a Digital Storm machine. Speaking of I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new computer. They're like Alienware used to be.
Also, that article reminded me that my mobo is an Asus P5N Premium that DS shipped me when my old Asus P5B mobo fried outside of the warranty.

Unrelated, but when did Alienware start sucking? Cuz they definitely suck now.

When they got bought out.
I bought an Alienware exactly one month before they made that one official and have regretted my spending decision since. Just checking.

By the way, what would the advantage be of having two nVidia 8800 GT's hooked up?

Why not give custom drivers a try? http://www.omegadrivers.net/ (http://www.omegadrivers.net/)
I ran into framerate issues with a certain game I was playing, and I switched over to custom drivers. Works perfect now. Can't hurt. Here is a link to the driver you will need: http://www.omegadrivers.net/nvidia_vista32.php
