For me it has to be at the end of the pilot of The Office (British), when Gervais' character and the temp play a practical joke on Dawn the receptionist by pretending to fire her, and she believes it whole heartedly. If you've never seen it, you will shit your pants laughing.

I'm gonna go with another Gervais moment, but from Extras.
When the dying kids mom is trying to get Andy's phone number, and he says he lost his phone, and the dying kid sees it in his pocket. Then he tries to give her a fake number, and the woman was gonna call it. That was great.

And when he was talking shit about the down-syndrome kid unknowingly. Equally cringe worthy.

Don't know if cringe is the right word, but, X Games 2007. I was watching live when the Jake Brown fell 50 feet. I seriously thought he was dead. It was probably the most terrifying thing I've seen on TV.

last night when cbs news anchor katie couric said michelle obama needs to act less like jackee and more like jackie o. :ohmy: i cringed. ironically (for couric), the time couric got her asshole examined on tv was equally akward.

On Fridays when Andy Kaufman 'apologized' for breaking character and fighting with Michael Richards in the previous week's stoned couples at the restaurant skit. It was just him talking to the audience and it seemed so serious. Someone laughed at one point and he seemed so genuinely pissed that someone would think it was a joke when his life was supposedly going to shit. He was the master of cringe.

I can't find a video of it (probably just as well), but I remember watching the NYC Marathon with my parents when I was a kid, and Grete Waitz won the woman's race with shit streaming down the back of her legs from about half way through the race.

As I remember it was funny hearing the announcers talk about the "problem" she was having without actually coming out and saying what the problem was. Of course it was pretty obvious to everyone as she was sticking tissues up the back of her shorts and then pulling them out, brown and wet, and throwing them on the side of the road like they do the used water cups.

It was even more cringy because I was watching with my parents, but boy did it make for some fun stories in school the next day.
