Here's what i would like to find out.

What artist do you have the most songs by on your Ipod/MP3 player and how many songs?

I will preface my by saying I have a seperate Ipod just for Grateful Dead shows that has about 30GB of concerts
But on my other ipod

I'm offended by the assumption that every mp3 player is an ipod.

I prefer to call them AAC players.

Is there a quick way to do this? I'm not going to count songs because I have close to 5K on my iPod.

Go to who you think may be the top artist hit play all for that artist. When it plays it will say

Now Playing 1of 120 for example

Joy Division- 114
Wilco- 71
Beastie Boys-90

A quicker way than playing the songs is to just type their name in the search box. At the bottom it will tell you how many of that artist's song you have and how many hours worth of music.

Christ, I've got all the albums and Earphoria loaded into mine and I've got 112.

You must have a bunch of live shows to have 382.

I used to have a bunch but have to re-download them onto my laptop.

Anyway...

Rolling Stones - 308
Smashing Pumpkins - 112

Yeah, I think I once had over 300 Smashing Pumpkin songs on my laptop. Its amazing how many songs accumulate with b-sides.

We should go back to our list in this thread, and pick out the best album and the best song (which doesnt necessarily have to be on the best album) of our top artists. That way, if someone likes your list and sees a band they want to get into, they know where to start

ween

Best Album - Quebec. Its a good mix of their weird stuff and their "normal" sounding songs. Great album all around

Best Song - "Voodoo Lady" (Live in Chicago album) - its so hard to choose a best song, WEEN is so diverse that I couldve chosen dozens of songs just as good. I chose this one because "Voodoo Lady" is a song that everyone seems to like, and this live version on the "Live in Chicago" cd is unbelievable, just great sound, great mix and so rocking.

Tool - 125 (but Undertow has about 60 1 sec blank tracks)

Best Album - Aenima
Best Song - "Opiate" (Opiate Album)

Flaming Lips - 116

Best Album - Transmissions of the Satellite Heart
Best Song - "When Yer Twenty Two"

Frank Zappa - 112

Best Album - Joe's Garage
Best Song - "Watermelon in Easter Hay" (Joe's Garage) - no lyrics in this song, but its absolutely beautiful

pink floyd - 99

Best Album - Wish You Were Here
Best Song - "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" - My favorite song of all time

Butthole Surfers - 91

Best Album - Electric Larryland - I know this is the most unhip selection since its there most "commercial" album, but I love Gibby Haynes' voice when he sings songs that sound like songs. I'm not a big fan of the "Locust Abortion Technician" stuff

Best Song - "P.S.Y." (Piough'd album) - If i ever made a list of the top 5 songs ever, this would be on it. Musical perfection, every mix tape I ever make for people, this 12min masterpiece ends it. I can't get enough of it

Alice In Chains - 85

Best Album - Unplugged
Best Song - "I Can't Have you Blues" (Music Bank disc 1), this unreleased track I love because it sounds so different. Alot of AiC fans think its too "peppy" and fast, but I think thats why I like it. It almost sounds more like a G'nR song than an AiC song, but I think its there best

Faith No More - 62
Best Album - King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime
Best Song - "Take this bottle" (from the "King" album

ok, thats all i got
