He lied on his resume, right?

Yeah, he exaggerated some of the details on his resume. The old host was much better. They kept that British survivalist dude, so I don't see why they couldn't have kept the other guy as well.

Seriously fuck Michael Simon, he shouldn't have won 'next iron chef' and he shouldn't be doing this.

It must have been pure spite that made them get rid of the old guy, it's not liek you can fuck up the credibility of a cooking based reality show.

Why the Michael Symon hate? I think his food looks fantastic, and I like his thoeries on cooking (using animals head to toe, in house smoking and curing).

I don't necessarilly think he's right for DI, but Iron Chef he was born to do.

I really wasn't impressed by any of his food. It all seemed like catering hall type stuff to me.

I don't think he brings anything to Iron Chef, his style isn't distinctive enough to me and I don't like his disposition.

His awful turkey-gobbling, tittery and squelchy, all-around-over-modulated gayman's laugh overshadows any cooking he does. The New Orleans chef totally should have won.

Food Network is running commercials for a new season of Dinner Impossible with the triumphant return of Robert Irvine. You cant keep a good man down.

I rather have Michael Symon, on Iron Chef then that douche hole John Besh. The Other Iron Chefs got to vote on who they wanted to work with and they picked Symon because he was a decent guy that wouldn't be a a spotlight whore.

Robert Irvine lied about making Princess Diana's wedding cake, he lied about his military service and a few other things.

Oh I Think Besh pushes out good food, but he was a bit of an ass. You could see the the want for the spotlight.

Although I have to say through the whole show it seemed to me that they stacked the odds in Symon's favor. I am not saying that it was a fix or anything but... I can't really describe it. It was like he was showcased in a way the other chef's didn't get focused on.

I just didn't dig Besh's vibe. I mean I respect his career, but I am tired of the ham sort of mentality, Besh just wanted it too much.

I know but they designed the whole show around him and his credentials. I remember watching the show and how they had to trim the opening 3 or 4 times because all his lies were coming out. I like Robert Irvine, but I think him lying kinda made him less genuine.

Every time I see the show I joke all the way through saying "If he isn't lying" I have almost made a drinking game out of it :)

what if paula deen's sob story doesnt check out?

If you would have picked anyone other then Paul Deen I would have another story for you, but I think her story can be vouch for by a whole town. Her rise to where she is, really is the American dream. I think it would devastate a lot of people to find out that she was a phoney.
I have to tell you honestly I love her, not in a freaked out fan girl way, but I find that she is a source of comfort to me. I watch her shows when I get sick.

Quite honestly, I think Food Network is taking a lead from A&E.

If Dog the Bounty Hunter came back from what he did - which, to be honest, is a lot more egregious than what Irvine did - then there's no reason to bring him back after some down time.

Just stop with the cake shows.

I'm annoyed that a significant amount of the Food Network Challenges are now cake challenges, and its generally the same people participating in them over and over. I'd be psyched if someone just decided to ice a cake instead putting fondant on it.

Exactly!

Every time I've seen the Ace of Cakes, or one of these challenges, I keep thinking, "Why don't they just use a styrofoam base and cover it with fucking modelling clay or playdough!"

These "cakes" are so handled and worked to put them in shapes that defy gravity, that in the end, there is nothing appetizing about them at all.

I can't imagine that you would taste like anything other than Gum-paste, fondant, and sweaty, oily man hands.

Move this shit to the Arts and Crafts channel and get back to real cooking and baking on the Food Network.

I like cake shows with personality.

Ace of Cakes = good.

Food Network Challenges stink on ice. When I watch Food Network, I want stuff I can eat. You can't eat the cakes they design.

It's a sculpture/modern art contest. Not a food contest.

you get it.
it took me a couple of years of watching iron chef to get it.
the food that they make on iron chef you cant eat. its for art, hence the big fuss over like, a bite of some tuna or whatever.

the same with food network challenge. its not about the taste. its about the art.
want to eat food? watch/batch to some giada, or paula, or guy

guy. i  guy. that's a man's man. give him a greazy burger loaded with bacon and some deep fried oreo's, and he's in heaven.
quite funny, if you notice, his weight is all over the place. i guess during 3-D seasons, he packs on the weight from all that eating, and loses it after filming. i just hope that they dont end up whoring him everywhere like rachael / paula.
