I have 2 weeks off and in desperate need of a vacation.
I want to drive but not too far ( 4- 7 hours max)
Been to Boston, Berkshires, Maine, Rhode Island and Lake George before and
would like to try something new.
Was thinking of New Hampshire...but is there anything to do there??
Also thinking of Montreal but that seems like a involved trip and don't know if
i can plan it so quickly ( also must be expensive).
Any ideas?
Thanks

I'll back up Montreal, too.
I drove up there last fall and really enjoyed it. And it wasn't all that expensive.
Also, if you're going to be there for more than a weekend, I recommend taking the 2 hour or so drive to Quebec City. That is a BEAUTIFUL city and also has some great restaurants and architecture, plus they're celebrating their 400th anniversary this year.

If you like camping / hiking... I'd suggest Acadia National Park in Maine.

King Hippos Bandaid could book you a pretty sweet cruise. you should ask him.

Thanks for the replies. I live in Manhattan.
Montreal seems like a good choice.
What part of the city is equivalent to our "Times Square"? Isnt that where i should
look for a hotel? I have to try and fine a nice hotel that isnt too expensive
Also - Do you drive to Quebec city from Montreal (thats 2 hours each way) or stay there overnight (or 2 or 3 nights)?
Thanks.

Not sure if there is a singular equivalent to Times Square.
I used hotels.com and found a decent hotel (Springhill Suites) in the Old City for a pretty reasonable rate. The old part is good b/c there's a bunch of stuff to see/do/eat within walking distance.
For Quebec, I'd say stay at least one night. It's lit up real nice at night, plus there's some streets w/ decent nightlife and restaurants. You won't have time to see it all if you go there and back in a day.
Definitely do some prior research; maybe pick up a guide book.
Good luck!
