i had a toshiba laptop and it didn't work without the battery in it.
i never took it out when it wasn't being used, i never thought of doing that. maybe that would make it last longer.

yea sorry that was what i was going for
if that would extend the life of the battery
i know that it doesnt need the battery to run and it seems like it would be better of without having it in for a battery longevity pov

I remove the battery if the laptop won't be used for a long period of time or if the laptop is on AC power for a long period of time. I read that somewhere a while ago.

Most batteries are made of lithium thus no longer are required to cycle (running down/charging). The only reason your battery would breakdown (less and less running time) is heat and time. Heat destroys the battery and over time they loose their ability to hold a charge.
i am curious now because I read a lot of tech articles and have not read one where removing your battery prolongs life. Maybe Google has the answer.
