I really don't like that that only has 256MB of RAM.

Besides, you should be able to get a new laptop for well under $500 anyway. I've even heard that Apple will be doing a new model of the Macbook for around $900 soon.

I got a Toshiba Satellite A205 series at Best Buy for like $400 a while back.

Vista Basic and a gig of ram...bought another gig for $20 and popped that in. Runs fantastic.

Video card blows, but I'm not looking to play games, and it streams HD very well, so it does everything I nedd it to do.

I just bought my friend's daughter a Bob The Builder lap top at Target. $17.99. You might want to give that a try.

If you want something new for $200-300, you're out of luck. Your best bet is ebay or craigslist and they obviously come with a caveat of the emptor variety.

I bought Liz a closeout computer by watching deals on SlickDeals.net.

Here's a deal for an HP from Office Depot for 449. (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=895077)
