I haven't had any trouble keeping fresh herbs fresh lately.
I just wash them when I get home from the grocery store and wrap them in a paper towel...and slide the wrapped bundle into a zip-top baggie. I prefer a freezer baggie because you can write on it.
I managed to keep parsley, rosemary and thyme for almost a month.
And I've kept cilantro, without the root, for around the same amount of time using the same method.
It doesn't look like it allows the herbs to breath. I started growing my own. I pick 'em, give em a wash and use em. It don't get no fresher than that.

That's an ideal-world scenario, man!
I wish I had the sustained sunlight to do that, but, in the apartment where we live now, I don't. (BOOO!)

my dad taught me the cheap solution to keeping cilantro fresh: trim a couple inches off the bottom of your bundle, put it in a small cup of water, then put a plastic bag and a rubber band around the cup. basically the same as your gizmo. works for me, keeps it fresh for a week or two

I'm in a second floor condo, I use a window box off my balcony.

1st floor apartment. The patio is ... inconvenient and doesn't get the best light. And there's no window in my kitchen.

I have a big herb garden...Use them a lot.. But it makes me sick when I have to trim everything back and throw them away...........I grow about 8 different Kinds...My favorite is cilantro...But I grow it separate from my herb garden in a big plastic landscaping ring...It is in in my regular garden...I'm on my 3rd planting this year..... My wife cut down 2 of my biggest Rosemary plants last week by mistake.... She is now Dead...

You know you're allowed to type bitch and shit, right?
And always use fresh when you can, but if you can't, these substitute very well...

Rosemary is a very strong herb. Maybe she got tired of you cooking with it.
