A few weeks back I was going to write in because when I pooped, the toilet was full of bright red blood. It was like I dumped a bottle of Hawaiian Punch in it. Is that more likely to be cancer? I'm only 22, but heard colon cancer can hit us young folk.

Did you eat beets the night before? That can have frightening, harmless effects in the toilet bowl, #1 and #2.

Bright red blood from the rectum is called hematochezia (heme-at-oh-KEEZ-ya). It only takes a couple of drops of blood from the rectum to turn the whole bowl red.

The risk of colon cancer is 10 in 100,000 at age 45, and is much lower below that age.

The most likely cause of your bleeding is hemorrhoidal bleeding, and internal hemorrhoidal bleeding at that:

Hemorrhoids are simply varicose veins of the rectum and asshole, often caused by increased pressure inside the intestine from hard dumps caused by a diet low in fiber.

First, I'd do as I've recommended before: if you're not eating enough fiber, supplement your diet with CITRUCEL... I can't stress enough how much this stuff rules. Secondly, get your family health care provider to look at your ass; he/she may want to use an "anoscope" which is a funnel with a slot cut in it...they insert it and twirl it around slowly to look for tasty hemorrhoids that need fixin'.

There's a thing called a "Thrombosed external hemorrhoid"...it happens when a hemorrhoid gets traumatized (often by hard dumping) and fills up with clot. When you see it, it looks like a big, fat tick hanging off the person's anus and it HURTS LIKE HELL.

The treatment for these is fun...you stick a needle right into it and inject numbing medicine (lidocaine) directly into it. The pain immediately disappears and you look like a genius. then you cut an oval hole in it and dig out the clot and stick some wadding into it to keep it from happening again. Then you cram gauze into the asscrack and TAPE THE BUTTCHEEKS TOGETHER. People walk funny after having this done, but they feel great!
