i just got a lcd tv and a ps3, but would also like to hook my 360 up to get the hd goodness..

i bought a hdmi kit for my 360 but dont see anywhere on the 360 to hook up the hdmi cable?

my 360 is about 2 years old now. do i have an out of date model or something?

the kit came with 1 hdmi cable
1 optical sound cable
1 rca box to hook into back of 360

I thought only newer 360s supported HDMI. I don't own one so I could be wrong but that's what i remember.

Unless I'm behind in the Xbox 360 news, I think only the Elite model (the black one that costs more than the rest) supports HDMI.

I have a white one (pro); it has HDMI. I think the difference in price between the Elite and Pro is the due to the memory size. The Elite has a lot more memory... I didn't think I'd need the memory when I bought it; then I got Live and started with the COD4 and I'm almost out for some reason.

Ok so originally the Elite was the only model that came with HDMI. Since then however, I believe all new models including the arcade now sport HDMI. Older models don't have HDMI, only component and VGA for HD resolutions.

So you just need to use component for HD, which your TV should definitely have inputs for. Not all TVs accept 1080p over component, so depending you might have to settle for 720p or 1080i. If by chance your TV accepts vga, that works for 1080p.

dirtydude, if you don't have a place to insert a HDMI cable then your 360 is a pre-HDMI version. Just use component and optical for the 5.1 sound.

They make crazey HDMI adapters for old 360's but it's still an analogue to digital conversion. no point. stick with component .

im new to hd.

so ive got the av cables hooked into their respective ports. but the picture on the screen doesnt seem to be any better than it was when i had it on my rear projection sony that was non HD.
also the switch on the av box from the 360 is set to HD.

do i need to adjust setting in the 360 console?
