I was really excited when I read through this developer interview. This game had snuck under my radar until now, but it's awesome that Blitz is coming back. Check this out because the dev has some cool stuff to say, including:
Once the injury location and intensity has been determined, players are treated to the most brutal injury animations ever seen in a sports game. These aren’t the X-ray plates of Blitz 1. These are full color movies that would be right at home on any prime time crime scene investigation show.

If they can do something about those insanely long-ass load times from the first one, I may actually consider getting this one.

Looks like they got rid of them, at least from what I can tell in this. Garnett seemed to have a good time with it, which is great to hear.

I thought the first one was horrible.

No, I didn't think it was. Sure, it had a few problems, but it was one of the funnest football games I've ever played. Maybe the funnest except for the those old arcade ones...he talked about it on the 1up show some too and he said it was really fun to play. He's a serious Madden gamer too, so I know if he's enjoying it, it must be quality.

Yeah. I really enjoyed Blitz The League for the first game. I always enjoyed the "make a team/player, start from the bottom and work your way up" storyline, and this was a good one. Sure, the load times were a pain, but I thought the gameplay really made up for it. To me, that was completely solid. I also loved giving the guys steriods and doing monster tackles that broke necks, spines, wrists. Just made for a great experience. If this is trying to also take the gameplay of Madden, I think this will be very solid.

I don't think you can really compare this and Madden though, because they are both shooting for different things. Regardless this game looks incredibly fun to play and some of the injuries are jaw-droppingly gruesome. For instance, this one:

Damn, that's sick.
I've been off Madden for a couple years, might be time to try Blitz.

That's why I'm going for it. I've never been into the hardcore simulation games and it looks like Madden is just getting too complicated, football is a game and it's supposed to be fun. When I want to throw my controller through the screen, that's not fun. Blitz is going to be 100% fun and I have no problem with that.
I totally agree about the injuries too, that was gruesome, it looked like CSI

Great article on games radar I just read about Blitz. The title really says it all: "Seven Ways Blitz the League 2 is better than Madden 09"
