I have a Sansa mp3 player. I would download torrents of a certain radio show and the Sansa would play the mp3 just fine. There was a guy who used to "pinch" torrents for this show, but now no longer does. For some reaosn my Sansa does not even recognize the new uploader's torrents/mp3's. Any ideas why? Thanks.

sometimes when things are encoded for ipod, they wont play on other devices and need to be converted to work

Did you try logging onto Sansa's website? There may be an update you haven't downloaded..

Btw, I was just kidding..
I didn't really mean for you to come back..

I'm not familiar with the Sansa mp3 players but I think I know which site you are talking about. I haven't noticed any difference in the mp3's but I do know that more and more there are other types of files available (.mp4 and .abr to name a couple). Maybe you grabbed one of those by accident. It really bites when problems like this pop up.

find what file formats your mp3 player supports
if the file isn't in that format YOUR CHEAP KNOCK OFF WON'T PLAY IT
now go buy an ipod or at the very least a zune for christs sake.

also sometimes changing the file format name might make it work..mp4-m4a, etc.

not sure about what you're downloading, but as for your Sansa, are you using rhapsody, or do you have it on MSC (drag & drop) mode?

Also, if you have audio files that the Sansa can't play, there are programs out there that convert all types of formats into mp3.

p.s. Sansa kicks ipod's ass.

you might need to update your Sansa's firmware. my old Creative Nomad used to have issues with certain MP3's based on the type of encoder used (LAME always worked but others were spotty).

Hey douche, I sent this link to tell you that you shouldnt use it because it pirating and its of Ron and Fez

Subscribe to Audible like me or any other fan of the show you shithead

Thank you sir for your kind words. I happen to subscribe to XM and contribute monetarily to the torrent site I use. I can only catch 1 hour of the show during lunch, so I download the entire program so I can listen to the rest at night.

Updated Sansa's firmware. No help. I would just copy and paste mp3's into Sansa's music folder. Never had a problem until the person who uploaded the files changed overnight. Maybe the Sansa is garbage and I will just get a better mp3 player. Thanks for all the helpful replies. (I'm looking right at you Gunner, budday!) :>)

take one of the older files and compare it's properties to a new file - specifically the encoder. I'm 99% sure that's the issue...what you might do is make a suugestion to the recorder that maybe he try and use LAME to encode these files for you.

Alternativelty what you could do, though it's tedious, is you can take these files, convert them to WAV files, then back down to 64K mp3's using LAME yourself. Or you could just record the shows yourself off the internet feed and edit out the commercials.

Do the files play ok on your computer ?

Does the website you are downloading the files from have its own forum or a comments section ? Maybe others are having the same type of problem. Can't hurt to ask.

Yes, files play fine on the comp. Must be the encoder the guy uses, as Goatweed mentioned. Thanks.
