I wish I knew how to field dress an animal. I've never tried, because it's hard to do that for the first time without feeling like a serial killer.

For some reason, my dad sent me to a trapping course for a few days when I was about fourteen. It was held in NY State someplace. I learned about connibear and leg hold traps and how to skin and bleed small game and how to wear flannel. No deer or bear or shit like that.
I think making water potable would be most useful next to killing a beer.

I know how to find which way is up in case of an avalanche. Subsequently it will also get you kicked out of my bedroom.

One time I found a magic bus in the wilderness and I lived in it and hunted game from like fall to the next spring.

During that time, I'd say identifying edible plants was pretty handy. It kept me from eating the wrong thing and dying. That would be a really shitty ending to a life changing experience like that.
