Well, might as well start it with this:

Chad: No arm.
Kellen: No experience. Well, unless you count your pocket collapsing in about 2 seconds "experience".
The Jets reloaded in the off-season though, and it appears that Favre will remain the Packers' issue.

8-8
hey its better than 4-12
I pity the jets

I think it is time for Kellen. I love Chad, but the new offense is more of a vertical attack. Clemens has a much stronger arm than Chad.
Chad may be a better leader, but after a 4-12 season, its time to have a long term plan.
I do like the offseason moves they made, but as KHB said, 8-8 will be about all we can hope for.

The problem is, Mangini's offense isn't suited for someone's of Chad's abilities, which is something I was never able to understand.
If it was a more short-passing West Coast Offense, Chad would be fine.
I know he's got a shitty arm, but he's got a decent brain. That means a lot.
Whatever. If we're not going with Chad then yeah, let's see what Kellen's got. What fucking amazes me is that they dump all this money in FA signings and draft picks and STILL don't have a clue what they have at QB.
I'm gonna say 6-10. Maybe 7-9.

According to his agent, Brett Favre is willing to play for both the Jets and the Buccaneers.
Favre appears resigned to a trade and hopes one is completed by Thursday, so he can get into training camp with his new team. His agent said that he could not see a scenario that involved Favre not playing football this season. The Jets may now be the frontrunners if they are truly offering a much better package, although we're sure that Favre will have a voice in the final decision. Aug. 6 - 10:16 am et

On sportscenter they said that Favre made it clear that he doesnt want anything to do with the Jets.

I heard some respected reporter (Jay Glazer or Peter King) who said that the Jets made preliminary contact with Favre's agent and were told Favre didn't want to go to NY.

The Jets will be fine with Clemens. The rushing game should improve with the additions on the line, and because Clemens is a long threat, defences wont be able to put 8 in the box.
I think they go 9-7, just missing the playoffs. Their schedule is pretty weak, and they've made some good off season changes.

I think the Jets just became a serious playoff contender.
He will make a fortune off of this comeback. The most recognizable name in the NFL playing in Market #1 your also going to get to see him play against Tom Brady twice a year which will draw crazy ratings.
Pretty convienent trade for all parties involved...well except for the Packers.
I guess either it wasnt Glazer that said Favre didn't want NY,or someone convinced Favre.

Peter King was on WFAN taking credit for convincing Brett that Jersey wasn't that bad.
Brett, like 80 percent of the nation, was convinced that New York City was basically the five boroughs surrounded by factories and highways (i.e. Jersey). Since the packers would fly in to EWR, see the WORST PART OF NEW JERSEY, and then leave, I could see his point.
King explained to Brett that areas around Florham Park, etc. are very "countrylike" and he could get the setting he'd want. And he's right. Brett could live in the environment he'd love out in NW Jersey.
So thank you, Peter King.
(And seriously, the Jets gave up a 4th round pick. If he plays half the season, it's a 3rd round pick. If he plays 70 percent of the season and the Jets make the playoffs, 2nd round pick. Jets make the Super Bowl, it's a first round pick)
Honestly? If the Jets make the SuperBowl, I don't mind giving up a first round pick. BECAUSE IT WOULD BE THE LAST PICK OF THE FIRST ROUND ANYWAY.

You really do a piss-poor Snoogans impression, you know that? The fact of the matter is not "dishing it out" or "taking it", you were using a standard FARK trolling technique of complaining "oh, what's this We, you're not a part of the team" angry typing guy.
So I used the term "we". Big DEAL. If you're a fan, you know what we're talking about. If not, you take things way too seriously and need to get off your high horse.

Mmm. Yes, because when I posted last night, I had all the intricate details of the trade before I went to sleep.
Considering my last post last night was around 12:30ish and Tannenbaum's press conference with all the details was at 1:15am, and all I was going on was 20-20 sports flashes that didn't really talk about what the conditions were, I don't know sports. I'm sorry. I'll never post here again. You dolt.

Why make excuses because of your lack of knowledge, ive read what you post you in other sports threads and you throw out general comments that really is borderline on what girls know about sports. You are a jock sniffer who doesnt know a thing about sports but like BDC you spit out what others say and take it for your own
And calling me a piss poor Snoogans is a bit of a compliment since i would much rather be him then the pretend prick you are, you are a joke and now i really do see why no one likes you because like i said you can dish it out but can't take it.
I dont even know what FARK even is and i have said the "we" thing for a long time, i mean i guess i know why you do it because you were never part of any kind of real team or know what it is to compete so you say we so that you can feel part of something, so keep glomming on to a team to make yourself feel validated you do such a good job at it
And explain how i take things so seriously you are the one that feels the need to say "we" as if you are part of something or part of the team however i am just a fan and dont things too seriously
You are irrelevant and nothing more then a carbon copy of BDC as all you do is parrot what others say. You are a true failure and like i said keep trying the prick routine it may catch on with people one of these days

Y'see, your first mistake was trying to make a BDC comparison. Unlike our fine disappearing friend, if anyone called out BDC, he'd immediately disappear. I, however, have no issue responding. So you fail on that.
Secondly, where do you even get that I never played on a team?
Third, are you backtracking all of a sudden? The reason I said "we" is not because a lack of self-importance on my part that I need to be a part of the Jets. It was because I was lazy. If you look at the original post, I actually only used the term "we" once - the rest of the posts was "they" or "The Jets".

Great! Now I get to hear about this jerkoff on ESPN and local tv/radio
upon a bit of reflection, I see Favre to Jets similar to the Mets signing Pedro-
its more for the public relations / showing fans & the league the Jets will try everything they can.
Favre makes the Jets better, but I expect to see the 2006 Favre, not last year's version.

My thoughts on the matter are this:
A lot of Green Bay fans do not like their GM. However, I've been rather annoyed with this media circus, even though the end was the best possible outcome for my team.
The fact of the matter is this. Brett is a HOF QB and he totally upgrades the Jets in that position, making them a very strong contender. But the question is, will he be a distraction? He's already completely tarnished his reputation in Green Bay and he probably will not return there until the current GM and Coach are out, so that'll be at least three-five years from now, if not longer.
The flip side of that is that people said that TO and Chad Johnson would be distractions, and for some reason, over the summer, both of them completely shut up and started playing football. What a concept.
I think a large part of this was a media storm. It'll die down by week 2. Unless his first game, he throws like 3 picks.

The Jets have a lot of weapons that Brett can use, and the early reports so far is that the new O-Line is outstanding. He'll have Cotchery, Coles, and Baker to throw at, plus Thomas Jones.
I don't know. He did more with less last year.

If I wasn't mezmorized by Cunningham as a young boy and didnt become an Eagle fan, I would have been a Jet fan. My roommate is a Jet fan and so is her father, so I always have the "second team" intrest in them. Sure I bust the Jets balls but I always do pull for them. Farve makes them better and I think the Jets had to do this. It gives them a legit starting qb and takes the Giants off the back page for a minute. At the very least, this just gave them a somewhat better chance at the Pats or maybe even a wild card. I just don't want to see his name on the ESPN crawl anymore. The media made me hate this guy over the last 4 years and I hope for the Jets that he doesn't distract much

Whether the Jets win or lose, it will still be interesting to watch how the media and fans react to Favre throughout the season.
I'd have to go back and look at the season and rosters, but couldn't 2006 Favre be a product of the entire Packer team sucking, and not just Brett?
I'm betting that many people saw last year as a statistical blip in his career. His numbers had been in a steady decline since 2003 (http://www.nfl.com/players/profile?id=FAV540222). I'll just use completion % as an example:
2003: 66.5%
2004: 64.1%
2005: 61.3%
2006: 56.0%
2007: 66.5%
I'm not saying that he doesn't still have it, because he clearly still has the skills to play. However to look at the decline compared to last year and it makes you wonder.
The Jets have a lot of weapons that Brett can use, and the early reports so far is that the new O-Line is outstanding. He'll have Cotchery, Coles, and Baker to throw at, plus Thomas Jones.

That is where I might take an issue. Whether the rest of the world realizes it, that Packer team is kind of loaded offensively. They have a solid offensive line, 2 very good running backs and are 5 deep in the receiving corps. I'll gladly put Driver & Jennings in the Top 5 of starting WR duos in the league.
But all that being said, I hope Favre does well with the Jets. It'll be a tougher conference, but he's still an amazing QB. If Eric Mangini can keep him under control, it should be a Montana in Kansas City kind of finish for #4.

It's been my thought that last year was a blip.
I also heard (don't remember which of the 100 NFL commentators recently talking about Favre) that before last season the Packers got Favre someone to work with him in the offseason, and he came into last season in much better shape than he had been recently. That was not the case for this past offseason.
Again, its a no-brainer for Jets. I'm still thinking around 8-8/9-7 with wild card possibility.

Last year he spent the off-season with a $5K per week trainer to ensure that he was in prime shape for season. He didn't do that this past off-season. He also has the disadvantage of playing in a new offense at the age 38 and having literally no off-season to work with his new teammates.
I will be intrigued as to how this works out. If you are the Jets, why not? Its definitely worth the risk.

The biggest thing he will Miss is the Hands of the GB Wrs. GB drafted Wr with great hands to handle Bret`s throws. I cant tell you how many of Favre`s less than perfect passes they saved with great catches. They would pluck that ball going 100mph high or low or to the side. It was amazing. As for Matty and KO. I find KOs WE gripe a bit much, but Matty does the exact same thing when he does not read something he likes. KO is at least respectful in his comments. Matty on the other hand goes automaticaly for nasty insults like "you`re a faggot" Case and point when i said ASB instead of allstar break. Or when we complain in the Yankee thread. And he does get a bit defensive when you hit back. I have no problems with any of the two. But both can get under your skin. When i called out KO on something, i felt he handled it well.

Are you mis-reading my posts for someone elses? Yes, I do attack people. But if people give me garbage, I can roll with it. You either roll or you don't. And most of the time, my attacks are "busting chops", which I guess Kevin took too seriously.

If I get heat, it's usually because I deserve, but I don't get what you're saying that I'm "parroting" what other people say or the fact that I have no sports knowledge. Because I don't regurgitate facts or figures? Because I don't constantly post in the sports threads?
I admit, I'm not going to Stump the Schwab, but for you say that I have no sports knowledge and I parrot other people is out-and-out false. How do I even parrot other people? I don't provide links to blogs. If I repeat someone else said, I usually have my own take on it.

HOW??? THE JETS AREN'T ON THE SUNDAY NIGHT SCHEDULE AT ALL. Is he gonna stop talking about the game at hand just to lavish praise on Favre? The only chance he'll have to do that is throwbacks from the studio at half time.
Real question. Will the trade cause a re-print of the new Madden game with Favre in a Jets jersey? Seriously...Madden might sell an extra 100K copies of the game.

Draft him as a backup, play him when your top tier guy is on a bye.
Well you are an idiot because he is on the cover of Madden football and as most people know the Madden cover boy tends to be a bust

I was actually thinking about that too. I think, I'm not sure, that Madden has already gone gold so it'll ship with Favre on the packers, but you can be damn sure that it's the earliest Major roster update for that game.
Knowing how cheap EA can be, I doubt they're gonna change the package. Elliott Sadler was on the cover of Nascar a few years ago and he changed teams, and EA had a lot of time to change the cover and they didn't.
Of course, Madden sells like 10x the copies that NASCAR does, so maybe a gaffe like this needs to be corrected.
It's like a nationwide version of that website that shows people wearin the outdated jerseys.
If I was in marketing, I'd fix it.
But it might be too late.

BTW, the yellow under Favre's jersey was explained as that he is wearing the shoulder pads he wore with the packers, which had yellow highlights on there to mesh well with the jersey. I'm sure they'll be fixed for the next game. Or maybe not. Who knows. I'm sure if he doesn't fix them, the NFL will start fining him.

They were only scheduled to wear them on 9/28 and 10/12.
I think there's an NFL rule limit on how many times you can wear your alternate jersey. it's one of the reasons the Chargers re-designed their jerseys because the alternates were proving more popular.

Correct. And I have no idea what the Jets plan to do in the draft this year, but they are not going to be in position to get a good QB because of their success, and if Favre hangs 'em up, it's going to be Clemens and TBA. Great. Just great.
I think the biggest problem is the coaching style. Mangini changed the personnel to fit his coaching style, rather than change his coaching style to fit the personnel. THAT'S A PROBLEM.

The Jets want Brett Favre to return in 2009, but does Favre want the Jets? Does he want any team in the NFL?
It didn't sound like it Wednesday, as Favre, in his weekly news conference at the Jets' facility, was downcast and reflective. The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer sounded like he was ready for another retirement.
"It's been a great career," Favre said. "This year was a gamble, I guess you could say - a risk, whatever you want to call it. I can honestly say I'm thankful I was given the opportunity here. It's been a lot of fun. It's been good and bad at times as far as our season has gone, but I'm glad I came. I made the right decision.
"This very well could be my last game. I'm aware of that. I'd like to make it a memorable one."
Damn does Favre love a soap opera starring him.

The Jets have a hard-on for hiring coaches with NO previous head coaching experience.
Coslet. Carroll. Groh. Mangini. Edwards.
At the very least, if they keep Mangini, hire Romeo Crennel as the D-coordinator.

I believe the deal was that if the Jets trade him to Minnesota EVER it was 3 first-round picks. I would suppose they could cut him, but that wouldn't be the best PR move at this point.

it says nothing about time so i dont know if its just 2008 or as long as he's a jet and not cut by them
The draft pick traded for Favre turns into a third-round selection if he plays in 50 percent of the plays this season, a second-rounder if he plays in 70 percent of the plays and the Jets qualify for the playoffs, and a first-round pick if he plays in 80 percent of the plays and Jets make it to the Super Bowl.
Schefter reports if Favre were to retire after the first year and the Packers got the Jets' first-round pick, then the Packers would send the Jets a fifth-round pick in 2010. If the Packers get the Jets' second-round pick, the Jets would get back the Packers' sixth-round pick in 2010. If the Packers get the Jets' third-round pick, the Jets would get back the Packers' seventh-round pick in 2010. Additionally, in the scenario in which the Packers would get the Jets' first-round pick, Favre must play in at least 50 percent of one playoff game for Green Bay to get that compensation.
Schefter also reports that the Packers took great pains to ensure Favre would not be traded to the Vikings -- or any other NFC North team -- by inserting a "poison pill" in the deal. If Favre were to be traded to any team in the Packers' division, the Jets would have to surrender three first-round picks to Green Bay. The trade also includes provisions preventing a trade to another team if that new team were to trade him to the NFC North.

If the Jets cut him, they take a cap hit and that's about it, but if the Packers tried to enact any poison pill clause in the trade deal, Gooddell will step in. It's not like the Jets are getting rid of Favre for some collusion or revenge on the Packers which is what they were scared about back in October. They were afraid that the Jets would turn and trade Favre to the Vikes or something.

I'm actually happy for Chad. I started actively rooting for the Dolphins when the Jags shit the bed.
Chad's one of my favorite active NFL players right now. So I'd like to see the Fins go far with Chad. I don't care at this point. Chad winning the superbowl may be the impetus for Woody Johnson to flush everyone.
The whole thing is this... WHAT MAKES THE DOLPHINS SO SPECIAL? The answer is this: The coach adjusted his scheme to the talent he had, NOT forcing his talent into his scheme.
Sparano is coach of the year. Chad would flourish in a short-passing scheme. AND HE HAS NEARLY 4000 YARDS.
Who the fuck cares?

I'll say this...Goodell better not step in. That deal was made under his watch so he knows the details of it. So if there is a poison pill, the Jets will have to eat it if necessary.
That being said, I highly doubt there is a poison pill for Favre blowing and getting cut.

I'm really wondering how you can say that when he's had four seasons of 1000+ yards rushing and one season where he had 950.
No one is saying that Thomas Jones is a HOF RB, but he's a serviceable running back. He's a good, not great, back. He and Leon make a good combination.
Besides, who the FUCK is laying blame on Jones for this disaster? NOBODY is faulting him for anything. The disaster of this season falls on three people - Favre, Mangini, and Sutton. To a lesser extent, Kris Jenkins who all but vanished.

He was great 10 years ago, but hes living off his reputation. He hasnt accompilished anything since 1997.
I was so happy to see Miami beat them today.
Oh and just a quick FYI, in a league that plays 16 games a season, 1000 yards rushing doesnt make you a good back. It makes you a mediocre back, at best. 1500 yards is the new milestone to be considered a great rusher. In my opinion anyway. I dont know, I just dont consider 62 yards a game to be anything special.

Favre's injury won't require major surgery (http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/36914204.html)
New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre reportedly has a torn biceps tendon in his right arm that will not need major surgery to repair, ESPN said Tuesday.
The 39-year-old Favre routinely underthrew receivers and appeared to lose some velocity on his throws late in the season as the Jets went 1-4 down the stretch and failed to make the playoffs. ESPN, citing unnamed sources, reported that Favre would need arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury, but could also play without having an operation.
Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, did not respond to e-mail and phone messages left by The Associated Press seeking comment.
After the Jets' season-ending 24-17 loss to Miami on Sunday, Favre said he's been feeling discomfort in his strong right arm "for quite a while." He also complained of pain in the back of the shoulder, the biceps and sometimes in his neck.
Favre, who also reportedly has some calcification in the area of the injury, is expected to take several weeks to decide whether he will return to the Jets, ESPN reported.
This is how the retirement drama starts. It should end sometime in March or April.

Thomas Jones hates favre (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3804004)
Team owner Woody Johnson has stated clearly that he wants Brett Favre to be the New York Jets' quarterback next season, but some players seem to be bristling at the thought.
Days after the Jets' 1-4 finish left them out of the playoffs and helped trigger Eric Mangini's firing as coach, running back Thomas Jones blasted Favre's final-game performance and seemed to suggest the QB's play -- nine interceptions and only two touchdown passes in the final five games -- called for his benching.
"We're a team and we win together ... but at the same time, you can't turn the ball over and expect to win," Jones said in an interview Tuesday with New York Hot 97 FM. Favre threw three interceptions in the Jets' season-ending 24-17 loss to Miami that clinched the AFC East for the Dolphins.
"The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that's just reality," Jones told the radio station. "If I were to sit here and say, 'Oh, man, it's OK,' that's not reality. ... I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it.
"If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game," Jones told Hot 97 FM. "You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not [fair].

I love Hot 97 as the credible sports source on this story. They get more out of players than anyone else.

He's off. I saw him twice in the last month. Once at Hammerstein ballroom then last saturday at the holiday show at the coliseum. Ludacris was there too and brought out Busta.

Unnamed pussy. Just say what you feel. I have alot of respect for Jones speeking his mind. Even more if he did it during the season but at least he had the nerve to say something on the record.
