i think if you listened to them when the album came out it has to be buddy holly....just because of how much mtv played the video....burnt out on it pretty quickly.

Exactly why I have never really given them a listen. It was catchy but didn't make me desire to hear anything else by them. Same for the sweater song. It's alright but not enough to make me seek out more. I guess I am missing out. Oh well.

I think I'm going to have to go with Holiday as well. I like Buddy Holly. Even though it got played out at the time, so much time has past that doesn't matter anymore.

It's a trick question. There are no weak tracks on the blue album.

If all of the songs were in a burning tent, and I could only save one, I would save going surfing.

When I was 16 I thought I would never get a girlfriend and I went surfing and I had it on my discman playing on repeat and i felt like I was getting away from something awful but I couldn't say what ...

I would submit:

The world has turned
Surf Wax America
Holiday
Only in Dreams

They all equally stink.

my point is since i recently jsut decided to listen to it all over agian also because i randomly have it on cd now that man its so good

if had to chose the weakest i was wondering what would it be

how come tons of the blue album isn't played on rock radio all the time

every song can be played today and still rock

Actually because of this thread I listened to the Blue Album today for the first time in years. I had thought very well of it, but I must say that it hasn't aged well.

And in retrospect their work is very redundant which is a disappointment to me.

The one with all the angst.

I might have to say Surf Wax America. The debate between a board and a car as a means of transportation always bugged me. Sure, cars will run out of fuel but they'll get you to work much faster. Not to mention the fact that you'd have to change from your bathing suit in to work clothes if you took your board. And what if you work in downtown, nowhere close to the water?

answer: none

100% solid album but I'd say Holiday is the weakest. That would be if Buddy Holly/Sweater song had never been overplayed by MTV.

Simple. There would have to be rock radio in order for songs to be played on rock radio.

No. The weakest song among the 10 on the album is still a great song. "Weakest" is a relative term.

haha, I just think it's a little too 'trendy' of a surfing song. I didn't think it meshed with the other songs on that album anyway. I liked Buddy Holly for the record, but a few years ago I was quite sick of hearing the song. After some time away from the blue album I liked it again.

I bought it in 1994 and played it to death for a good year or so. The only song I skipped back then was "Holiday." These days, I can barely stand to sit through the "Sweater Song." Still a really good album, even though their new stuff makes me writhe in pain.

"what's with these homies dissin my girl?"...One of the greatest lines ever in a rock song, so you can't say Buddy Holly. I rarely skip any song on the album but if I do, it's Surf Wax America.
