It's weird to look at a list this long and only recognize about 10% (or less) of the names (& how the fuck did Grace Jones get on there???). I guess I don't really seek this kinda stuff out anymore, I'll check something out if it's recommended by a friend but I don't really hunt down new rock 'n' roll anymore, unless it's for the purpose of parodying, & I HATE pop music, so I avoid that like plague!!! But I do find this fascinating from the standpoint of an almost total outsider. If anyone can make The United States of America cool again in the wake of George W. Bu$h... more power to 'em!!!

Grace Jones' first studio album in two decades, "Hurricane," will arrive Oct. 27 (http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/industry/e3i5b79f51055d2eac91f4ee12074050f1a)

Everyone should check out The Gaslight Anthem. Good rock and roll with a punk edge.
The only band I somewhat enjoy on that list is The Hold Steady, and it's only sometimes.

I was willing to look at the list with an open mind, but Lil' Wayne is #2, which means this list is fucking shit.

I haven't heard of one of those bands and I won't be checking any of them out. But whatever, we could argue musical tastes all night.
No idea what genre these bands are in, the list should say "25 Bands Making America Cool Again" in "Alternative Rock" or "Screamo" or whatever that stuff is.
What makes America fun for some is useless, emotionless noise to others.

The NME shoving its head even further up its own ass yet again.
Why are we allowing a weekly Birtish music rag dictate our coolest bands? Worry about your own shit, you Coldplay-spewing fucks.

I was thinking the same minus the Coldplay venom.
How does a British magazine know what is making America "cool" again?

Yeah, I went for the easy slam, even though I was surprised at how decent that latest CP album is.
Let's fight the British again.

I actually agree with 100% of this list...
...if by "Cool Again" they mean "Gay".
