Saw Gov't Mule in Atlantic City at the House of Blues last Friday night.

Wooooooowwww!

Has anyone heard of these guys?

I'm joking a little - I have heard of them but always just wrote them off as some type of mediocre southern rock biker band.

This was one of the warmest and most beautiful shows I've ever experienced. Bluesy soulful rock and lots of catchy and interesting jams throughout the show.

Awesome awesome stuff.

Great band! I've seen them in concert twice and they never disappoint. Warren Haynes is one of the best guitarists out there.

I've seen them once. In a small venue. Great band. As many times as I've seen Warren Haynes, he never disappoints.

I've never managed to see them, but I got to see Warren a few times on "Jam Night" at a bar in NC in the mid 90's. The bar's Jam Night regulars were all childhood buddies of him, and when he'd come home for Christmas, he'd often sit in. It was great, not just because of how good Haynes is, but also because he was hooking up with his old buddies.

One year, when Derrick Trucks was just starting to become a "child phenom" (I think he was about 14 at the time) got up and played with a local "child phenom" (can't remember his name) who was about 12. This kid was also incredible. Seeing two little kids up on stage, ripping out incredible slide guitar together, was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. To be honest, I can't remember if Haynes played that night. It's just all part of that amazing blur of memories of great guitar performances that I witnessed so many times in those days.

Good times!

Although I'm not a big fan of the Mighty High record, I love The Mule. Seen them 12 times now. It's already been said but bears repeating...Warren is the fucking man. Not to diminish what Matt and Woody (R.I.P.) ;and now Danny Louis and Andy Hess bring to the table, but musicians like Warren Haynes don't come around often. He's the total package: great player, great singer, great songwriter.

I was at that show! It was one of the better ones Mule played in a while, at least that I've seen. Mule outside rules.

That really must have been special - the man is a healer.

I love The Mule.

Me too...though drum solos can be a little too long.

You're about 15 years late on them, but you still get a chance to see some great stuff. I first saw them open for Panic in 1994. It was Little John Col in Clemson back when Allen Woody was still alive and they instantly struck me as a powerhouse. They were bad-ass then and still are. Warren sounds better each time I see him either with Mule or the Brothers. All that plus drummer Matt Abts is by far the most underrated drummer in ALL of rock-n-roll.

Son of a bitch, this thread made me realize that every time Gov't Mule shows up on my iPod I let it play all the way through. Weird, I like them, I just never think of them.

Saw them at red rocks this past summer. I like some of their stuff but for the most part, their songs are just too long.

I missed them here in DC the other night. A chick I work with went and managed to get to the edge of the stage -- AND got a guitar pick from Warren.
