Ha! Like I told you, I anointed them my new favorite team this past August because I'll be moving to Tennessee next year, but there's no real emotional attachment there. Is it cool they're 13-2? Yes. Am I genuinely excited? No, not really. If they win the Super Bowl it won't mean a thing to me, but I will be rooting for them.

Okay if you want to go back and back and back.
Superbowls: Redskins 3 wins 5 NFC titles, Eagles 0 wins 2 NFC titles.
Both have won the division 7 times.
Really don't think the Skins are your doormat.

Definitely should have beat Cinci, the tie is killing you. Both the Skins and Eagles got somewhat hosed playing Baltimore late in the season when the Ravens were/are on fire.
I would say Philly's worst loss was Chicago. Early in the season, the Bears were in disarray. Those two and you guys are in.
Oh well. Definitely will root for the Eagles next week.

What does suck constitute - 8 wins? Sweeping Philly, winning on the road at Dallas and NY? Sure, I'll buy that.

I actually think our teams are polar opposites. You have a fiery young coach that has done more with less talent. We have a stale old coach that has the talent but cant gameplan or motivate them to their full potential anymore.

Minnesota's going to be interesting.
Andy needs to play ball control in that game to neutralize Adrian Peterson.
If they do that, they'll be fine. If he throws the ball 60% of the time, then the Vikings will run Peterson and Taylor all day, put together these 8-9 minutes drives, and blow up the defense before the fourth quarter.
That game will be won or loss on the gameplan.
But the Eagles have more talent than the Vikings. They SHOULD win.

Can't think of it that way yet.
Peterson's still a huge weapon and if Gunslingin' Andy decides he wants McNabb to throw 50 times and they go 3-and-out a bunch because of that, the Vikings can win that game.
I'd love one more Eagles/Giants go 'round, though.

I'm not worried about Tavaris.
I've seen Jim Johnson defenses bludgeon Michael Vick types (and Vick himself) en masse.
The one thing that concerns me is the Eagles' offensive game plan. They stay balanced, they win. They go pass happy, they'll lose.

congrats boss, geno and you other fuckers
I listened to the last 5 minutes of the game on the radio and my god were Merrill Reese and Mike Quick gloating. "This is the best possible way to end a season." "There's not a better sight than to watch TO sulking on the sidelines" "Tony Romo is walking back to the sidelines holding his ribs. He just wants no more of this beating." "JaMarcus Russel is now my second favorite QB." "All Eagles fans should send flowers to Michael Bush tomorrow." (177 yards rushing in Bucs-Raiders game."
And this hilarious exchange:
Reese: "And then there's Roy Williams and Pacman Jones and their lack of contributions."
Quick: "Oh, they had plenty of contributions, none of them football related."
And this odd shot at Jon Gruden:
Reese: "The entire Philadelphia Eagles radio team would like to thank Jon Gruden for his contributions today." which came out so nasty that even Mike Quick immediately cringed.
The whole thing was actually embarrassing.
What a great day of football!
The early Raiders lead gave me a little hope for the day, but the Bucs started chipping away in the second half. When the Bucs went up 24-14 off that absolutely RIDICULOUS interception that JaMarcus Russell threw, I nearly smashed my TV.
But lots of credit to the Raiders. They hung in. That team has some players. Russell's a nice looking QB, and they have some serious backfield talent in McFadden, Bush, and Fargas.
They could be a 8-8, 9-7 team next season if they make a few right moves (which they won't, because Al Davis runs the team).

I agree that this loss was not Donovans fault. The defense sucked all day long.
I also agree about Greg Lewis. To the point that I will root against the Eagles every game he suits up from here on out.
But the bottom line is with 3 minutes left Donovan had a chance to drive them and tie it and he threw nothing but bad passes. At least Westbrook saved one of them. I like Donovan but hes just not the type of QB you can give the ball to with the game on the line and time running out. Bottom line is you need a QB that can do that sometimes if you want to get a ring.
Id really like to see Jon Gruden coaching Kevin Kolb here next year, but I know thatll never happen.

Donovan was partially responsible for such a huge deficit in the first place. He was awful int he first half, inaccurate and missing WRs. If he throws an accurate 8 yard pass over the middle right in front of him with no pressure in the first half to Hank Baskett they have a TD and the whole first half is different. I love him but this was not a good game on his part.
But the refs were horrible on two big plays that really fucked the Eagles. The Curtis one at the end was obvious but earlier in the game there was an even more obvious pass interference non-call. In the first half McNabb had Avant for what would have been a first down and goal. However Ralph Brown had a hold of Avant's jersey long before McNabb even got rid of the ball and by the time the ball got there Brown was mugging Avant. Non-call and fourth down and FG. Just some really bad timing for two atrocious calls for the Eagles.
The game was really lost when the D gave up the lead. That drive reminded me a lot of the New Orleans game during the Garcia season a few years back. A long, backbreaking, methodical drive to end the game.

Yeah, the INT was bad, but the guy gives you a lead in the 4th...the D has to make that stand up.
I've fine with a little criticism on certain plays thrown McNabb's way, but I don't want to really hear any WIP-style "we can't win with this guy" bashing, because it's so far from the truth.
He played a good game.
You nailed those two calls. They stood out in my mind, too.
As far as the Cards' winning drive, it reminded me of the 2002 drive in the Rams/Eagles game where Warner did the same thing. A 7-8 minute drive, where he just picked them apart and broke their back.
Warner's a pretty damn good big game QB. I know he has the one Super Bowl loss to the Pats, but that certainly wasn't on him.
And he's 3-0 in NFC Championship games now. The guy is just unbelievable under pressure.

Warner's a pretty damn good big game QB. I know he has the one Super Bowl loss to the Pats, but that certainly wasn't on him.
And he's 3-0 in NFC Championship games now. The guy is just unbelievable under pressure.
and he had a nice thing going for him in ny before they went to eli, giants started 5-2 with warner that season
and he had a nice thing going for him in ny before they went to eli, giants started 5-2 with warner that season
I always thought he got screwed in New York.
You really have to give it to Whisenhunt, too, because I'm sure there was a lot of pressure on him to go with Leinart this year.
So, let's rank our NFC Championship losses.
#4 - 2009 - Cardinals 32, Eagles 25 - This one isn't so bad, because the Eagles were never really suppose to be here. It sucks, but at the same time, you have to give it up to the Cards. The last three weeks they've been untouchable.
#3 - 2002 - Rams 29, Eagles 24 - The Eagles were the scrappy underdogs in this game, the Rams were the juggernaut. I still contend that if Buckhalter didn't get hurt, the Eagles would have won this game, but in the end, the Rams were a better team. This one hurt because of how close they were, but again, it's tempered a little because they weren't suppose to win.
#2 - 2004 - Panthers 14, Eagles 3 - This was horrific. The Eagles got manhandled in this game. The Panthers corners beat the shit out of the awful Eagles WRs, and McNabb got pounded. This literally looked like a rape on the field.
#1 - 2003 - Buccaneers 27, Eagles 10 - I still have nightmares about this game. This, more than any other year (including the year they made it to the Super Bowl), was the year the Eagles should have WON the Super Bowl. They were clearly the best team in football that year. They had home-field against a Bucs team that was like 0-19 in cold weather. They had the right weapons offensively, and a killer defense. This was a pure unadulterated choke job. Maybe the worst meaningful game in Eagles history.

I've fine with a little criticism on certain plays thrown McNabb's way, but I don't want to really hear any WIP-style "we can't win with this guy" bashing, because it's so far from the truth.
He played a good game.

Just to play devils advocate for a sec, would that then mean that McNabb, now 1-4 in NFC Championship games, is not a big game QB? Because thats what I was going with when I said he just isnt a high pressure QB. Alot of guys can helm a team where the defense holds the other team to 14 points and their WR's and RB's get huge YAC. But you gotta be able to drive a team under monster pressure if you ever want to win a Super Bowl. And I just dont think he can.

Nah, because I think he had his 'drive' in this game when they went up 25-24 in the 4th.
The defense just didn't hold it for him.
To come back down 24-6 and get the lead in the 4th. I think he had his 'big game QB' performance.
Sometimes it just doesn't work out. Warner lost the Super Bowl that one year to New England. I don't think that takes away from his big game QB mystique, because even though they lost, HE didn't really lose it. He played well enough.

I dont know. In my opinion in order to be a big game QB you have to able to drive your team down and win in the final 2 minutes of a game and honestly, off the top of my head I cant think of him doing that very often.
I dont completely blame him. I also hold Reid responsible because he either is incapable of or refuses to learn how to run an effective 2 minute drill. I guess Im just tired of seeing my team get the ball with 2 minutes left, down between 4 - 7 points, and having absolutely zero confidence that they can pull it out.
I dont put the blame with 5 for this one. The defense was an embarassment. They fucking tackled like my mother today.

well he kinda did but the giants needed to get eli in there sometime
but at 5-2, then 2 losses with warner to go to 5-4 i'd still like to know how they woulda finished, but ultimately i dont think he woulda taken us to the super bowl so it wouldnt have mattered much

ok but you just contradicted yourself in your own post
the last eagles championship was 1960
my point was that both teams choked but at least in some point of their history the mets won the world series , eagles havent won a super bowl, yeh they won championships prior to their being a sb, but no one counts that
for example giants fans dont say we have 7 championships, they say 3 super bowls

Well the hang over is almost gone.
After a season like this, I thought I would be happy with just what I got. Well I am not...I feel like shit. I hate everyone, I just want to sleep and curse everyone out.
As usual the start of the season, their is hope. I was looking forward to the season. I listen to the hype and think, yea yea, we can do it we can win it all.
St. Louis Rams: We kill them, we play like a team with no mistakes. Everything clicks. Very Happy.
Dallas Cowboys: Unbelievable. Scoring back and forth, then the handoff, Uhg...back down to earth. But did not expect a win. Still happy.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Wow..defense plays great. McNab not his best. But watching Roethlisberger take a beating was great. Very Happy again.
Chicago Bears: Wow what the Fuck. What with the play calling. What is with the goal line plays. How the hell did we lose this. Not Happy
Washington Redskins: Alright great first half. Up by a few. Playing good. 2nd half...HUH..what happened, who the fuck are these guys in the green jerseys. What the hell is happening. Very not happy
San Francisco 49ers: Scary. almost blew it. But pull it off in the end. But looked like crap. Happier but still not really happy
Atlanta Falcons: Looked good. Ah Westbrook. Looked like things might be on track. Getting Happy
Seattle Seahawks: Start of that game...what the fuck..how the hell does Seattle jump out. Oh wait over reacting. Realize no defense. Very Happy.
New York Giants: Uhg. How do you run a set of downs passing the ball, get all the way down field and score. Then get the ball back, and with 3rd and 2 what do you do. Run up the side. If Westbrook did not get out we would be dead. So 4th and 1 what do we do. Run..RUN. And of course the pain starts. I hate the Giants, too many Giant fans around me. People at work. Oh I want revenge. Not Happy.
Cincinnati Bengals: a 1-8 team and we tie..TIE. How the hell are we going to make the playoff and tie a 1-8 team. HOW!: Extremely pissed. At this point I want Reid GONE.
Baltimore Ravens: What a ugly game. Holy shit we are bad. Oh No not Kolb. Like fresh meat put in a lion's den. Oh my god, my season is over. Damn it Damn it: Too Drunk to feel anything.
Arizona Cardinals: Watching this online. Damn family and damn Thanksgiving. Hey from what I saw, we looked good. McNab is actually throwing accurate passes. Wow.: Nice win, but still feel hopeless.
New York Giants: I tell my Giant fan Co-workers. All I want is this win. I want this win. Was on a bad day, year to day my brother passed. So we do the family get together, I stay at the place we go for brunch and watch the game. Holy crap, Westbrook runs, catches, defense in Manning face, blocked field goal before end of half and run back for touchdown scared the crap out of me. Thought this is the down fall, but no. One great game except for that mistake. I am smiling like I just got laid for the first time and I was actually good. Very Very Very happy. I hear talks of playoffs, chances. Nah cannot happen.
Cleveland Browns: We should of killed but we won...we better have won. If we lost or another tie to this team, a team that has not scored a offensive touchdown in weeks, I would of exploded. Very happy and still riding the Giant win.
Washington Redskins: Did we decide to just show up and play Punt and do nothing. Ah Mr. Reid we have a great running back, we can do a thing, it's a weird thing, it's called RUN THE BALL..ASS. :02 left and pass is short by about 3 inches. All we had to do is win. Win this game and we get in the playoffs. Holy crap, I just want to crawl into bed and hope it catches fire. Amazing. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
Dallas Cowboys: Start the day, Need Tampa, Chicago to lose. We need to win. I Find out Michael Bush 177 yds, kill Tampa. Texans do in chicago. Holy crap we have a chance. We can make it. I turn on Fox at 4:00 and check the info, it does not list the game. Damn crap, fuck, I am going to miss the game. I run to my computer and start looking to watch the game online. As I go crazy and ready to have a stroke, I hear Troy and that Keebler elf, Joe buck. YEA the game is on. This might be the best game I ever watched in my life. Not just for killing the Cowboys, not the fact we make the playoffs. But Brian Dawkins, cause 2 major fumbles which we turn to points. Yes YEs YESSSSS. My neighbors and the people across the street knew the Eagles won. WE ARE PLAYOFF BOUND. The 2nd Season begins. SO DAMN HAPPY.
Minnesota Vikings: We have to hold down the league's leading rusher. All we have to do is stop the run and we will win. WE do and We Do. Alright. Holy crap the rematch is set. VERY VERY HAPPY.
New York Giants III: Felt like we could win but not confident. Listened to everyone's BS. Giants 3 headed rush. SuperBowl Champions. Eli looks like Eli of old, lost, like he wants his mommy. And he played that way, Tom Coughlin called a horrible game. Jacobs on 1st and 2nd down gets 3 or 4 yards. He is pounding us. 3rd down I see him head for the sidelines. Coughlin just called a bad game. Defense plays great again. 1st 4th down stop. I just knew it was over. I popped my beer and cheered. We are going to the Championship game. 2nd 4th down stop. I just smiled and screamed, again my neighbors knew who won. WE ARE CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND. No words to describe it. Fuckin Ecstatic.
Arizona Cardinals: We get to Warner we will win.....Did the defense make the trip to Arizona? Hey can we tackle, Greg Lewis, drop another ball and I will chop your hands off. 24-6 at half time and I am on my 3rd shot of vodka. 3rd quarter, we come back, the defense shows up. We take the lead, DeSean Jackson is going to be a superstar, we better keep him. We have the lead. What Where What happened? They drive down field and score. What the fuck...what happened to rushing 7, what happened to getting in Warner's face, what HAPPENED TO MY SEASON. Right after the game, and about 9 beers 4 shots, I puke, I smile and pass out. As my brothers, and my friends watch the Steelers head to another super bowl in my living room.
A season I never expected to get this far. A season I never expected to last this long. A season I had hope for and then lost. And a season I am in pain over. I keep saying I should be happy with what was accomplished. But I just feel like shit.
Not happy, very crappy and another long year to wait.
I HATE EVERYONE.

I get the joke but are we seriously trying to say that every race of people is just as good at every position? Is that really the dream world we are living in now?
Youre right, its just me. I guess when I see a professional football position that is 95% occupied by one race, Im just stupid to think that race may be better at the skills neeeded for that position. Go figure.
You know, there are womens basketball teams out there can beat the shit out of most high school boys basketballs teams. That doesnt mean they would give an NBA team any kind of a game. Doesnt mean women arent good at basketball, just that overall, they arent as good as men. Pretty much the same argument.

you also have to take into account that until recently most blacks playing quarterback in high school and college were told to move to another position if they wanted to play and succeed in the nfl ( i.e. tony dungy )
so yeh when one race has had over 80 years of playing the position vs one thats had about 25, the numbers are gonna favor the longevity
the other problem is most of the recent black quarterbacks arent good pocket passing qb's and are more running style qbs (mcnabb early in career, cunningham, vick) and for comaprison white running qb's havent suceeded either except for s.young (garcia)
the 2 most successful black qb's are doug williams and warren moon, i dont rememeber much of how they played but i think they were more pocket passer than mobile style

See thats a thought out response I was finally hoping to get, whether I agree with you on it or not at least I can say it was intelligent and not delusional.
I can see what your saying. Running QB's seem to help during regular season games when you can throw off a defense here or there and make something happen with your legs. But in the playoffs that shit doesnt fly because you play better more disciplined defenses that can study what youve done all year. You beat a few teams like that, but not all of them. And yea Doug Williams and Warren Moon were pocket passers, but Moon for some reason never did shit in the playoffs, except lose the biggest lead in playoff history to the Bills backup QB.
But thats what I mean. The skill set. Look at the newest black QB's to come into the league. Jackson and Russell. They are both running QB's too. The only black pocket passer I see besides Mcnabb (who turned into one over time) is Jason Campbell. The least touted and the one whos accomplished the most out of those 3. I just dont see anything changing in regards to that. Do you?

From what I heard part of what we get with the Sheppard trade is a 4th round draft pick next year. That's okay, but....

What really pisses me off, my wife booked a cruise with AAA, the reason for the cruise is a eagle cruise, and the main person on this cruise .....Brain Dawkins.......now he is a fuckin bronco....he will not be on the cruise....I have no fuckin luck...they have not said anything but I can't picture him on a eagles cruise and him being a bronco.

QFT. I felt this bad the second time Trotter got released. It's a total WTF? situation that I just don't understand. How is this going to get the Eagles into the NFC Championship game this year? What are we getting for Dawkins?

Well I am on the cruise as I type and Brian Dawkins is like 10 feet from me. Smaller guy then expected but very nice. Quiet and approchable. The cruise itself is start to get annoying. Water is very rough and the water was so bad that we could not dock at one of the islands. So 2 days straight on the sea.
First night was the meet and greet. Yelled my head off. Got to meet all the guys. I think they will remember me. I truly am a ass.
A.J. Feeley is nice. Celek is ok..I think he is a little slow. Not very approchable. Gohnong is ok. Played cards with him last night. Hardly said two words. Troy Vincent is great. Very cool, very nice. Grabbed and hugged him. Hugh Douglas is cool too. very nice and funny. Brian Dawkins is cool. See him around the ship a lot, always friendly. Had the meet and greet, photo session and Q&A. Next up is the autograph session. Then the farewell cocktail party. Hope I don't make a ass of myself..again.
It's cool meeting these guys.
Well I'm off to either fall over board from the rockin, or puke...I will go with drinking too much and puking.

Finishing up the cruise tonight. All they guys have been cool. At the autograph session, all the guys signed the pictures we took with them. They also signed a football, and Dawkins signed the jersey they gave out for the trip.
It has been very cool and according the AAA they want to do it again next year. Just have to figure out when, where and who might be on.
Well time for last dinner. Then final night with the iggles.

Hey eagles fans, get ready for a shitload of holding penalties with Peters on the line for the next four seasons. And thanks for the first round pick.
