They traded shinjo and desi relaford to the Giants for lefty Shawn Estes. I bet the Mad Dog is fumming over this one. Nice job Steve Phillips. Either Rusch or Appier are gone for sure now.

I can't wait to see what Phillips does next. Rusch and Benny for who I wonder? Appier and Payton for who? The possibilities are endless now.
LETS GO METS!!!!

I got news... It is a good
trade but not a great trade...
Estes is a loser. He will be
a 500 pitcher at BEST....
While you guys are probably
saying I will take it or maybe
you are under the notion that
he is better than that.... You
would have been better off
just signing Nomo for just a
few extra bu

Now they just need a big bopper in the outfield...
Gonzales seems like the only logical choice.
I would have preferred that they gave up Payton instead of Shinjo.

Man, I had a very bad flashback to 1993 when they picked up the cream of the free agency crop at the time (Bonilla, Coleman, Saberhagen etc.) and it all turned sour in no time flat.
Let's just hope that they can keep it all together.

The Mets in 1993 were entitled "the Worst Team Money Could Buy." Reverting back to the moniker the Mets signed free agents and this new batch has currently only signing in Roger Cedeno, Weathers and the rest were through trades... Alomar, Estes, Guthrie... the Mets improved in every facets except the outfield... Start the mantra!

Mets need alot more pitching to be complete. You can't say Estes is an Ace in the rotation.

Never said ace solid 2 or 3 starter in the rotation. I think the pitching is fine but there is always room for improvement Jester.
But the big bopper in the outfield is a must. Kapler and GONZO is what we need right now.

Another thing that has to be addressed now is the bench. Damn maybe Escobar could have finally been able to make the team this spring. Are the Mets gonna bring some guys from Triple and Double A to help the bench out this season?

The bench is not that bad, really its not... Vance Wilson, Timoniel Perez, Lenny Harris, Jorge Velandia, Joe McEwing... not bad at all. So I wouldn't worry that much we just have to work on the starting lineup right now.

I don't know about this Mo Vaughn thing, I think Phillips is reaching a little bit on this one. The pitching is decent at best and now we have to give up Appier for Mo. I don't know who else is available for the Mest at this point. Just sign Gonzalez and stopping acting like this is a video game by trading for everybody.

Mo is good and Juan is better... can we get both, yes, will we... probably not.
I think Mo woul be a better upgrade than Zeile if we can move that huge contract but GONZO would bring in the fans.
GONZO is my ticket!

The Mets will NOT win shit if they count on Estes and Chen, trust me. Maybe they can bring Seaver out of retirement! ;)

Thats so cute, having real hope for red sox...
even if they weren't cursed, they still dont have enough power at the corners of the infield OR a decent rotation behind the admittedly amazing Pedro..and dont even try to tell me that Hermanson and Burkett match up to Mussina and Pettite...just doesnt look good for baaastin again this year

All the free agents the Sox have picked up so far were done by our GM Dan Duquette who's trying to save his job.
Next month the new owners will get control of the team, fire Dan and build an even better team.
