'Behind every good man there is a woman, and that woman was Martha Wainwright, man, and everyday George would come home, she would have a big fat bowl waiting for him, man, when he come in the door, man, she was a hip, hip, hip lady, man. '

That may have been his way of copping a feel.
I've never listened to Martha, but I think I'll listen to some Rufus today.

But people usually show up to do both: hear the song and see the singer.
As concerts, etc. show, there is a visual aspect to entertaining people when performing music.

I wouldn't throw her out of bed for eating crackers. Of course, what else would she be doing in my bed?

I agree, but the presence of the 'creator' should never eclipse the created, and alot of the live stuff of his I've seen seems to do that.

Have you seen that Leonard Cohen tribute concert movie? He turns both the songs he covers, "Everybody Knows" and "Hallulejah", into "me me me me" exhibitions. Both were awful.
I was at the store yesterday and saw that he has a new CD out called "Rufus Sings Judy." Yes, he's singing Judy Garland covers. I think I got just a little bit gayer from just seeing it.

Thats actually what specifically made me develop this opinion, and really the only videos I think of when I state it. So, if that was some wacky night for him and he never ever does shit like that then I'm wrong and just grumpy today. But in general I've been thinking alot about ways in which artists intrude on their work, and how its becomming completely accepted and celebrated by the audience, and how much that bugs me.

I always thought that she and her philanthropist doctor/husband Thomas were gunned down in cold blood in front of their young son.

You are a hugely overrated singer who would be a karaoke queen at her local bar if she didn't have family connections

That's the problem, that class WAS so 2008, but we are now in 2009, aka the Douchazoic era.
Seen Martha several times. I would crash my ship on the rocks following that voice any time.

I enjoyed Martha's performance on Thurs night. Strong show all around: Betty White, O&A and Martha were great. Conan's show was really strong on Thursday, too.
I like the whole Wainwright family.
