The over/under on Mafialife mentions in the first 3 minutes is set at 6. Get your bets in.

I don't listen to any of the Saturday night shows live. It's the only night hubbie and I can just hang or go out for dinner. He works 6 days a week. If there's a replay I want to hear The Blowhard.

I got the under for listeners for the last two shows. I can't listen to MLC or Fred when either are on a great show (r/f), so I sure as hell won't listen to garbage alone. I do like CT/Jivin and Than/Sam overall, so it's not like I'm just ripping away here. My other question is, do either of those two fucking work? Can I lump in Sheepy, MB, Franklyn and HTG on that last question too?

For the record - I will be tuning into the Blowhard show because he has a better house band.

I'm kind of afraid of that too.
But hell...we could turn it into a drinking game!!!
Both Chris and Fred seem like good guys, but Blowhard just seems to be a natural.
Good luck to all of yous.

I voted for Blowhard because he's got the talent.
I want to hear Fred because he's got the stoners view on life
and I'll check out Chris's show for the cringe factor. I like the dude, I think he's a really cool guy but that mic makes him expose his underbelly. Maybe he'll give out some mafialife cheat codes too...

This Sunday, from 9-12, there will be a trilogy of Brooklyn shows on 202. Which of them are you looking forward to the most?
None; the whole thing has been promoted with goomba autofellation and shitty jokes and quotes from Scorsese movies. Regardless of the actual content of this block of shows, the advertisements are so douchechill-inducing as to vaporize any latent desire I could've possibly possessed to listen in the first place.

This is quite a 'stacked' weekend on 202.
Lazlow, Secret Show, Brooklyn Boys. Not bad.
I honestly always thought Fred and the Brooklyn Blowhard were the same person. I thought it was a bit. I'll be listening intently to try to determine the differences.
Looking forward to and thankful for all the fresh programming.

I met Fred from Brooklyn the first time I went to NY. He was as nice as he could be and he was so quintessentially New York that we all just thought he was the best. So I'm looking forward to his show, train wreck or genius.
Blowhard and I have been corresponding for awhile, and I really enjoy him on a personal level. He's been very supportive of our show and I can be no less for him. I can't wait to hear what he's got planned.
Chris is a standup guy; as a conciliator myself, I admire anyone who would try to unite all these nutty message boards (the Unity Party was just chaotic wackiness and I loved it). Always been a big fan of Don Quixote, and Chris is a quixotic as you can get. I think he'll surprise a few people with this show.
When I first heard about this idea, I had imagined that the three brooklyn boyz would be doing a show TOGETHER. I think this is a missed opportunity...maybe next time?
I wish them all the best of luck...but my choice is:

Being we are mostly all very good friends and from Brooklyn I am assuming neither of us would even "compare" 1 show over the next. We all wish each other the best!
I would also love to hear Stugots' Show. Maybe if he was still around, he wouldve also got picked. Who knows.
I heard he is coming back too.
Wait for it....

Oh I agree Chris and I didn't mean anything against any of the shows - I have lots of love and respect for you guys also. I just know this is something he wanted for a long long time and when I first heard of a Brooklyn night my first thought went to Stugots. I don't know the details or whatever happened in the background (if anything), but when Ronnie was reading the shows that would air I had a hope that Stugots's show would have been given a shot also.
If I deviated from the discussion I'm sorry, I wish everyone the best.

Last I heard Ron said Stugs said he was "out of the business".
Reeph, thanks for the apology but I wasnt really offended. In fact I think it's real cool that you guys express yourseves staying real to your opinions. I wouldnt try to change the bad feedback these days. I used to do that, it was more of a control thing. I was silly.
Real is alot more respected these days in my eyes. Thanks for being real dot net. I try to stay true to myself all the time now and I am less stressed and feel alot better in my own skin.
Not everyone likes what I represent on the show, or Brooklyn, or Mafia games and movies, or the typical goomba stereotype, and thats cool. I certainly learned from being in the business that this stereotype produces some hardcore emotions good and bad and sticks to a more extreme behavior amongst the masses. You either love the stereotype, or hate it.
Obviously the show decided to cater to that audience for this run w/ Brooklyn night, and at the same time the opposite end will bring forth a buzz and emotion that will create good radio. Ron is the MASTER of Zen Comedy!
I'm going to be myself and talk about what I know! Despite what it creates in some ppl, I am looking forward to it, and I hope you all listen.
Regards,
Chris

I know it is not the Blowhard Show.
Blowhard, you remember the past like it was some fantasy land of joy and happiness. As was pointed out to you, the U.S. was going through a terrible period in its history. Whether you believe it or not it was not caused by Mexican immigrants. Who caused the Great Depression? Who was apathetic to the plight of Jews during the Holocaust? Who refused to give women equal rights? To treat blacks as property and animals for a large part of the 20th century? I don't think it was Mexican and Chinese immigrants.
Yes, you had a good time in 60's. That is different than saying the 60's were a great time.
Movie theaters had to be local. Not everyone could afford a car or the cost of traveling to just see a movie. Now almost everyone, even in Brooklyn has a car. So, theaters can be huge, out of the way, complexes. Do you really think the screens, picture quality, sound quality was better back then?
You stated that the people of Bay Ridge fought to keep out McDonald's. No, some people fought to keep out McDonald's. Others it would seem wanted a McDonald's, unless you think people commute from other neighborhoods to visit that McDonald's.
While I am not particularly fond of "hipsters", without their influx many Brooklyn neighborhoods would still be the ghost towns that your generation had left us. Williamsburg, Red Hook, Coney Island are all enjoying revitalization because young people are willing to leave there.
Immigration is a problem. Just ask the Indians. Life for a middle class white man in Brooklyn during the 60's was probably a great experience. Don't confuse that with it was a lovely time for every American citizen or that the future of America looked so promising.
I just don't understand how a fan of the Ron & Fez show, which I think constantly asks people to be open to new ideas, introduces the audience to people and art from all over, encourages experimentation and freedom of lifestyle, choice, and expression, can have such a seemingly close minded fan.
Now I feel like a blowhard.

I think if you really look into what the '60s were like, it was probably the most nightmarish, chaotic time in our history. I mean, even during "Camelot", we came closer to all-out nuclear war than ever before. And then Vietnam spins out of control, RFK and MLK get assassinated, what start out as peaceful protests get more and more violent...and, let's face it, the music wasn't as good as you remember it either (though I would have liked to see the Velvet Underground at their peak).
So Blowhard strikes me as one of those guys who judges the past purely on his personal reminiscences, not on any actual objective judgment on it.

Looking forward to MLC most. He's the newb. We have no idea what he's going to do. He had no warmup to this. Anythings possible. Thats the fun of the podcasts, not hearing a good show (no offense to all the podcasters). I mean, when we want to hear great radio, we have the best of the best five days a week.
The podcasts are a blast for everyone-- the podcasters get to sit in the big chair and see what it feels like to put on a show, and who knows, maybe a great radio show will be discovered, but even if not, its fun to play make believe. And the listeners get the fun of hearing their friends and those they dont like succeed and/or fail massively; either way, its a good laugh, and a good time.
I always love the podcasts. Cant wait!
