The stoner band it's ok for the punks to like. My whole morning so far has been the first Clutch record. Incredibly good driving music, and truly some headnod shit that will break your neck.

Psychotic lyrics about the civil war, stone grooves, his sister is on Ace of Cakes; what's not to love about Clutch.

I caught a few of their videos on youtube. "Electric Worry" was a cool song; the way they utilized the harmonica was sweet and the "Trouble No More" reference.

Maryland represent.

We did a cover of "Escape from the Prison Planet" on one of our demos.

They've changed a lot since the early days....like Impetus or the stuff from Transnational Speedway League....but i pretty much continue to like everything they put out

Clutch! Love 'em! Love Them! Hard Driving Blues! Older stuff (Passive Restraints, Transcontinental Speedway League) is a little raw but great riffs and Sci-fi/Mythology/Anger lyrics draw in you in. The self-titled is my sitting around when the wife isn't home-blowing off the day-need to listen to something big-album. Elephant Riders, Blast Tyrant and Robot Hive/Exodus are fucking masterpieces, top to bottom flawless music. The last album From Beale St. to Oblivion as some nice tunes, but gets a little repetitive and a bit boring. It really lacks the edgy metal/Black Sabbath/multiple changes to build a song structure and focuses more on the formulaic blues method of Blues Riff-Call and Response-repeat until song's over. Not my thing really.

Wow.
I've never heard of CLUTCH! or their music but, their manager (Derek Shulman) is in the office next to me. He's got a ton of CLUTCH! stuff on his walls.
When I was first gettin' to know him, he would talk about them all the time.

Small world.

The author looms above his page
and thinks it strange that at his age
he can not find the proper words
to describe his only world.
One would think that in a life
where no two snowflakes are alike
one would have a brilliant rhyme
for each and every bit of time.

Fucking LOVE Clutch!!!!

I've seen them somewhere around 10 times.
Best live band there is. End of coversation.

I would have to go with "The Elephant Riders" as my favorite album, with "Pure Rock Fury" and "Blast Tyrant" tying at a close second.:smoke:

One thing I totally respect about Clutch, on a local note, is that they would play Rex's.

And, as someone who went to school in CT, they still play Toad's Place.

ditto

Those that haven't listened give them a shot. I think anything off of Robut Hive/Exodus is a nice little intro. The only thing better than their albums is their live show. I got to see them at a tiny LI club last summer (The Crazy Donkey) what a treat. Can't wait for the live DVD which is on its way

I went to see Clutch and Coheed & Cambria play together. It was such a weird match, but neither band was particularly great. I like Clutch, but I think the crowd not being that into them really effected their play.

I saw that show when it came to Roseland in NYC. Probably not Clutch's best show, but they certainly outshined Coheed (and I actually like them)

I only ever saw them in this area at the Troc in the city, except for the first time I saw them at The Electric Factory, opening for Marilyn Manson.

I saw them open for Pantera at Roseland in the mid 90's and remembered them as all being fat. I was sorely disappointed when I googled their pictures, what happened to the FAT CLUTCH? DID THEY ALL GO ON A DIET TOGETHER?

A band that diets together, stays together?

Perhaps you have them confused with Crowbar, who also rule? (hmm. Crowbar thread, not such a bad idea).

You know what, you are right. I was thinking of Crowbar. It seems like they are still beefy.

Carry on.

One of the Beavis and Buttheads was them watching a Crowbar video--this music is slow and fat. It's up on Youtube, but the only one is badly dubbed in russian. Which is pretty amusing in it's own right, but missing the original humor.
