Dinner Parties

My wife and I are pretty good cooks. Once we buy a new house, I have dreams of inviting friends over for small intimate dinners to drink wine and eat good food. Is this totally weird or am I living in some sort of 60's-70's suburban dementia?

it's always a fun way to showcase your cooking... and have some low key fun.
friends of mine amp it up a bit by having wine tasting as a part of the evening.

i would like to do more entertaining here... being single it usually ends up being a few guests, alcohol and a lot of fun appetizers.

I love going to, and hosting dinner parties. I love to cook, so they are really fun to host. and I like saturday nights going to someones house and just relaxing for the night and enjoying some good food and company.

If this is not normal, then I'm in the same boat as you. I annoyed Furie for weeks to have a poker night or something, so that I could entertain in the house. Sometimes, I still bug him, but its a little harder now, with both of the kids being under 3. On a totally different subject, I can't believe that my baby boy is turning 3 in 2 weeks. sorry, that just popped in my head, because we entertained people at the house for his birthday,
