Bruce Lee rocked, but Sonny Chiba made some fun films. I have most of the Lee and Chiba stuff on tape..anyone else?

I alot love seeing old martial art films. I remember watching them on the WB and Fox when I was younger. Now I have bought a few Jackie Chan before he made it big here and Bruce Lee movies.

Bruce Lee is the master. Bottom line.

Jackie is my next fave. I dig anything he's done, even the old 70s stuff. I love the stuff he does with Sammo Hung.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen a whole lot of Sonny Chiba.

What's your vote for greatest old martial arts flick? I have to go with the old standard - Enter the Dragon.

A Fist full of Yen is probable the best parody of a martial arts film. too bad it was just a short.

My favorite, the 5 deadly venoms???. Each of the guys had their own style modeled after an animal, toad, scorpion, I forget the rest. Anyone remember Kungfu theatre on channel 5 on sunday afternoons? Never missed those.

I've had it up to here with you people....oh I thought you were circus midgets

HOLY SHIT!!!

I REMEMBER the 5 Deadly Venoms! God, I love that movie, but I can never find it today, no matter how many video stores I raid. It was great though. I loved all of those old 70s kung fu flicks.

The Hunted was good flick as well but thats the 80's.
I like yojimbo, and the 7 samurai movie too. The ones clint eastwood and co copied to make fist full of dollars, etc.

I like yojimbo, and the 7 samurai movie too. The ones clint eastwood and co copied to make fist full of dollars, etc.You would be referring to the late, great Akira Kurosawa, who is considered by many, myself included, to be the greatest Japanese film director of all time. He was a master of his craft, and has influenced numerous modern day film directors such as George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg.

The actor with whom Kurosawa most collaborated with was Toshiro Mifune, who played the part of the ronin samurai perfectly. And yes, Kurosawa's films were almost literally translated into many of the old Clint Eastwood sphagetti westerns. His "Man With No Name" was just a clone of Mifune's samurai character.

Toshiro Mifune and Bronson did a western flick together as well, but that hardly qualifies as a martial arts flick sorta.
Still love Enter the Dragon, one of my all time favorite movies. Did you know jackie chan and the fat guy martial artist from martial(his name escapes me right now its late) law were in that movie. I have the dvd, and its the extra scenes that were cut out. jackie is the guy who gets his neck broken in the underground tunnel fight. And the other fellow spars Bruce in the very beggining of the movie

The Five deadly Venoms has to be the best of all!

Centipede, Snake, Scorpion, Lizard, and Toad.

Did everyone cry when they found Toad's weak spot?

Drive-In Theater on Saturday afternoon Ch 5 Rocked!

I taped it way back. I have to check the vault.

P.S. The Chinatown Kid is a close 2nd.

I remeber one called the return of the master killers, where the main character faked being a shaolin monk to scare off some extortionists at a village. They find out, beat him up and then he vows to learn kung fu. He goes to shaolin temple to study, so he desguises himself as a shaolin student, but then gets discovered and is told to build scaffolding around shaolin temple. That's all I'm saying, but I taped it and used to watch that over and over again.

i got kicked out of my band, so now i'm stuck with the name

Let's not forget John Carpenter's great homage to the old classic kung fu flicks, "Big Trouble in Little China"!

Bruce Lee fights back from the grave.

An ISCREAM22 reccomendation: a good movie with trailers and clip from cheapo martial arts movies is Bruce Lee and Kung Fu mania.

When I was in law school in the 1600's channel 5 had really bad karate movies every sat night from 2-4 AM. Every singe one of them was a masterpiece from the iron skinned monk to the flying ninjas!

Typical dialouge.
"Are you Tai Lo?"
"Yes."
"You killed master, now we fight."
"OK but first let's eat."
"OK, two # 7's please extra hot, sauce on the side."

Can't beat the classics.

Here is one that was one of my favorites, but there is no way I can remember the name.
The guy was orphaned at the shaolin temple, he became a monk and they had to cross the small moat while having run over a log and not fall in. Now I think, it centered aroung him as being the guy who created the 3 sectional staff.
Did anyone ever notice, the bad guy always was an old guy with long white hair and beard. Now there is something you dont see everyday"

"Chang Ho, YOU KILLED MY TEACHER!( albeit 30 yrs ago and I waited this long to kill you. but I bet you would have died soon any you old hag.) PREPARE TO DIE."
HAHAHA your tiger style is no match for my dragon style!

I have seen everthing the amazing Jackie chan has done and I find that he is an actor you can truly repect. He does his own stunts, he is a comedian, and he could kick all our asses well if he wanted to. If you ever have a blockbuster night, rent the biography of Jackie Chan and get yourself some General Tso's chicken and you will understand my love of Martial Arts.
aaaahhhhsssoooo save me a fortune cookie!

Jackie Chan is a legend in Asia, and is finally getting well known in the States.
He is also known to be very generous, and very helpful to young Chinese actors like Jet Li. Jackie Rocks!

What about Bruce Leroy, the Last Dragon? They fought in Harlem, and the bad guy's name was Sho'Nuff. Classic.

What about Bruce Leroy, the Last Dragon?

One of the funniest parts was when Bruce Leroy's asian friend confronted Sho'Nuff and said he was a "breath stinking, Rick James lookin" something
(forgot the rest)
