NY Health Insurance

Being freelance I need to pay for my own health insurance.

Since moving to NY I've realized my old insurance no longer covers me and I need to find a new one.

Any advice on which ones are good or should be avoided?

i'm a consultant working for a company who's benefits suck. any advice (including dental) would be most appreciated.

I was just about to suggest freelancers union.

My best friend's husband got insurance through that union. There are a lot of plans to choose from (depending on how much you want to pay). I was looking into it myself but then I got hired full time by the company I work for now.

One thing she DID mention to me was that insurance companies take into account how long you've been without insurance. If it's been a long time it could result in a higher premium.
