Scrapple is good. I hadn't had any since I was a kid, but I picked some up from a country store yesterday. I just fried up a scrapple and egg sandwich.

Who else loves scrapple, and how do you prepare it?
BTW... Anyone know a good cardiologist?

People always used to try and disgust me with their descriptions of scrapple, but it's pig, right? I've yet to taste a piece of that animal that isn't delicious.

The tail is a little too springy for me. Other than that, it's all wonderful.

I tried it, my brother swore by it for some reason, and it is shit. I was a younger man, maybe I'll give it another shot, but at this point I would say don't even try it, it's awful. And I LOVE pig products.

I hadn't even heard of this until I saw an Ace of Cakes episode where they said that it was Duff's favorite.
I sounds gross...

It's really just like kind of mushy sausage.

Scrapple rules.
I'm gonna hae a scrapple/creamed chipped beef/corn beef hash fest.

Yeah, it's like the leftover parts of pig, made into a square patty form.
The description people give of it is usually intended to gross people out, but honestly, if you eat sausage or hot dogs, it's not a whole lot different in terms of 'content.'
It is a tremendously popular delicacy around the Philly area.
I'm not a huge fan of it. It's ok, but not quite my thing. But most people who actually TRY it like it.
Most people who bitch about it and say it's disgusting go off the description of it, and never have actually tried it.

I had scrapple once out in Lancaster, at a diner where my mother, grandmother, and I all had a huge breakfast for about $3.50 (really cheap food gives me the creeps!). I was feeling adventurous and ordered scrapple and received a small little dish with a square lump of this mysterious meat on it. I didn't like it very much, but I could totally see being into it if I was raised on it. Or if I was really into meat, which I'm not.

Scrapple is fantastic, but it is an acquired taste, like cow tongue sammiches and escargot. It's sorta like hamburger, a mash of all things left over from pig. It has a musky hearty taste. It's pretty good, but it isn't something I could eat every day.

I actually tried with that one.
Sad, I know. :glurps:

As a salute to PapaBear, I had a scrapple, fried egg, and cheese on wheat toast today.
I ate it in the shadow of a 100 year old oak tree, and marveled in the Lord's beauty.
