if you can pick any coach/manager to start your franchise who are you going with

modern era: joe torre

if were going to go with any era: bill bellacheck- the way he prepares and his complete dedication to winning would translate

noteables:
walsh-the amount of coaches that have come out of his program alone is a good showing of what exactly he meant to the sport

Riley

not phil jackson(that lucky mother fucker should be in line to tell shaq what his ass tastes like)

Love Lasorda. Some departing players have said he hates blacks and that is why he never has any on the Cardinals. I thought that was bunk but then when you go back through history it seems true. To manage so long in the big leagues and not have blacks? Seems like you would keep one or two around to run the radio after games. just sayin...

I remember when she hit that other broad in the knee with a steel pipe in the Olympics. That was hilarious!

Aren't Joe Torre and Bill Belichick both the modern era? How could Belichik be the best of any era, but not the modern era? Are you even trying to make sense?

I'll take Jimmy Johnson, even though I hate the Cowboys.

As time goes on, I believe more and more that Jimmy was a great motivational speaker with average coaching skill who stumbled into some of the most talented people to play the game.

You people can pick any coach or manager, and you're picking baseball managers.

The baseball manager could be the most overrated job in the entire United States.

If you want proof, DUSTY BAKER has coached teams into the playoffs. Dusty. Baker. And you guys somehow think a baseball manager is important? And the first coach mentioned in this thread had a guy with a career .347 OBP batting leadoff this year! Yeah, that's the guy I'm starting a franchise with.

Also, Jackson is lucky, but Torre isn't? Was Auerbach lucky, too?

i felt like his abilities as a coach would be more transcendent and would be a better all time coach as far as the way he goes backward in time then torre would

im just going to change my answer to pure belichick

Seriously, Joe Torre? Does anyone know his record before he became the Yankees skipper (940-1052)? He is a very good manager for a veteran team but I wouldn't want him to start a franchise.

Belichek would be able to build a team.

Bill Walsh is another person I would call.

I don't think Lombardi's style would translate well into today's game
