Bobby Flay Opens Burger Palace (http://www.exploreli.com/entertainment/localguide/north-shore-suffolk/ny-exmain5763236jul15,0,7933256.story)

Opens today.

I've been to his Steakhouse at the Borgata and I really enjoyed it. It was a real change of pace from the "Salt, Pepper, Butter, Grill" type of steaks you get at most places here in the city. I'm interested in seeing what he does to twist the burger a bit.

My mother-in-law lives in Fort Salonga. Next time we're out there, I'm going to this place.

I went to Flay's Burger Palace on Friday. It was pretty good. I had the Miami Burger, which was the pressed cuban burger I've made before myelf from his recipe. I have to say, mine was a little better, because I use more meat and therefore it was juicier, but it was good.

The fries and milkshake were excellent.

I went there last night for dinner.

What a waste of time and money.

You'd think some of these celeb chefs would be more careful with what they attach their name to.

It only enforced my belief that chain restaurants blow, no matter whose name is on them.

it didn't read like it was a chain. there are more of them?

ah, this article (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/537197) mentions a chain. hopefully there will be some closer than 80 miles or such.

We were told "all burgers are cooked medium; pink all the way through, unless otherwise specified."

We said fine. Out of the 6 of us, one had a burger that was raw in the middle with blood all over the plate, two had dry-as-a-fart well done burgers, and the other 3 had what I would classify as medium. I guess they hit 50% with that one.

Merely putting a decent burger patty on a nice roll doesn't justify charging 8 bucks for it, though. Sorry.

how were the fries?

I had sweet potato fries, which every dignified human being recognizes as being the superior fry.

They were OK.

Nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary.

i went to the one in bergen county.

My burgers were cooked medium rare, and were quality meat. much better then like fridays or applebees.

fries were good, they have some interesting dipping sauces on the table like chipolte ketchup and stuff.

milkshake was really good

overall, I would go here before I would go to Fridays, but if you are expecting some gourmet burger you are wrong. these are not chefs making burgers for you, they are just random people who needed a job.

He's having a book signing next weekend at the one I went to last night.

I might show up just to spit on him and demand my money back.

Thieving cocksucker.

Gvac, I just think you got bad service. I've been to the one in Smithtown twice and both times I liked it. I agree with others it's not like your getting a gourmet burger, but you're getting a really good chain burger. I'd go there before going to Five Guys (in part because of the different types of burgers at the "Palace.").

Also, my wife saw the new burgers book and got it for me about two hours ago. It has the recipes for all of the burgers at his restaurant and more, including recipes for BBQ sause, honey mustard, other condiments, and several different types of fries, onion rings and shakes.

I went to the one in Monmouth mall. Average at best and I HATE a soggy bun!!!. I will not be back. I'm actually on my way to Stewarts in Rahway to get a California burger. Nothing fancy, but I'll take that over one of Bobby's burgers anyday.

I definitely want to give it a try, I do enjoy a good greasy ass burger from White Rose in Highland Park though...

The only good burgers can be found in my back yard and in Manhattan.

Plain and simple.

You mean all I have to do is make a shitty burger, put guacamole dip on the side, and I can charge a fortune for them?

Hmmm...

Maybe the one you went to is different then the one by me.

Now, was it the best burger I ever had.... no. But it's a decent 6 dollar burger...
Much better then going to the diner or whatever and spending the same.

The fries are ok, but the sauces they have (the spicy ketchup and the fries sauce) make them really good .

The chocolate milkshake I had was REALLY good.

AND they have good pickles.

I ordered mine medium well and it was cooked pretty close to perfect.

I didn't try any of the fancy schmancy burgers with avacado and all that. But, the straight up cheeseburger was a decent buy.

Let's be honest, Casey; you're pregnant. You were probably having one of those wacked out cravings you chicks get and anything would've tasted great.

Go back in 6 months and see what you think.

I was with HTG and Mike Caka who are far from preggers and they liked it... didn't LOVE... but enjoyed.

maybe it's the location you went too

I went to the one by Monmouth Mall, as well. I had the basic cheeseburger and fries with a bottle of Boylan's cream soda, my girl had the one with guacamole and the sweet potato fries.

She really liked hers. Mine was... ok, but I didn't go outside of the comfort zone and try a different kind of burger. I need to know what your basics are like before I go for your big time item. Gotta test the foundation.

It was a burger. Not an amazing burger, but not bad. Dublin House burger is better if you ask me. And maybe I missed it, but was bacon an option? I don't remember seeing it. The regular fries weren't terrible, but I don't want to order something in hopes it isn't terrible.

Is "crunchifying" just putting a few potato chips on the burger? And that they actually charge extra for that?

The layout of the place was odd. They have the counter set up in a ribbon fashion to allow more seating, which is probably logistically smart, but more likely in hopes of it being packed. But from where I sat, right in the middle, I could see right through to the back of the kitchen. Not a view of the cooks making burgers and making it interesting, but the bussing station. I had a lovely view of dirty dishes and large men of questionable legality in hair nets cleaning up the slop. And through another window next to that, I could see the torso of a man who looked like he was scooping large wads of lard from one bucket to another.

On the most positive note, the onion rings were fanfuckingtastic and the dipping sauces were interesting.

The recipes for the dipping sauces are in his new book. I made the bbq on Saturday. My stove is way to frakkin hot so it came out way too think but it was a really good BBQ sauce.

You would be hard pressed to find a burger in a casual upscale sit-down restaurant for less than 7-8 dollars in NJ.

The dublin house hamburger had me in so much pain. Since the renovation, the food is HORRIBLE.
