View Full Version : Stealing R&F Bits

I've realized that lately I've been stealing R&F bits when I post.
For example, when someone posted a phrase similar to a song lyric, I took Ron's bit and referenced the rest of a song in my post.
Yesterday, I also did Ron's bit where I pretended that a movie (or two) was real life, and was actually an experience in my life.
Anybody else finding themselves using R&F bits/jokes in their posts or real life, or am I the only hack here?
I just did it today:
I gave up on Aquaman after that awful film adaptation James Cameron did with Vinnie Chase.

Uh huh.
So then, you're saying that you don't just like her....
Of course, i've er, borrowed R+F lines; with the #of hours most of us listen, i would have to guess that most everyone does, even if they're only a "c-ya!" "thaaankyou" etc mostly for our own amusement.
I did get a that's-witty laugh when i used RB's 'luv tango, hated cash' gag for some other "&".
Even aside from delivery and (expert kungfu) timing, the context of most stuff makes them pretty hard to reproduce...i believe there is a thread with "awkward" moments when Ron lines used.

Uh huh.
I'm quite fond of her also.
Sue's my favorite great big fat person.
However, LaBoob might just be the grooviest lady on the board.
Perhaps on all of the interwebs!

I do that one all the time !!!!! people love it !!!
sorry ron
i steal jimmy's "is it, are you, do they, etc..." bit a lot
i'll also give people the ronnie line "you don't have to work blue, you're better than that", when a buddy is cursing
i use the "i don't make you a bad person" line also
nobody gets it cause nobody i know in real life listens to the shows
i've thought about using some of ronnie's lines just to try and find fans of the show, if somebody asks how i'm doing say "cool and the gang" or if they're telling me what they do, tell them "well i got two radio shows"

I've stolen Ronnie's "rubes and carnies" bit in political discussions, because I think it's just a brilliant way to look at our political climate.

Dumb local barber shop banner: Joe's Back! Is he?
"I just got in my pajyaamas ... and now I'm going STRAIGHT TO COLLEGE!" Are ya?
I'm doing the same thing, uncontrollably. I have to shut commercials off.
My wife mentioned something about pants yesterday - I asked her if they were smoke pants. She looked at me like:
I mentioned there's a new comic book (on mic at a show) - the most amazing thing: it's a man ... with the powers of one man. He's called man man. Everyone looked at me like::blink:
I'm still working stuff like that into the show in an attempt to root out some RnF fans.

I also find myself doing the "how would you beat up" bit all the time.

I do Ronnie's "it doesn't make you a bad person" a LOT... and I don't know why.
As for Lil' Jimmy... I find myself making people repeat bad jokes and yelling "WE GOT IT."
That one really goes over brilliantly with others, they think it's so mean spirited, haha.

I don't think of it as stealing their bits.
I'm pretty sure that 99% of us here realize that we're using a bit because it works and of course it would be a R&F bit on a R&F board.

Ron mentioned The Jack Benny Radio Show today; the "well, I've got 2 shows" oh-yeah? was a long-running gag there...Carson used Benny's crossed arms with hand to chin look....Benny had writers and was on the Vaudeville circuit....

Did Ant steal one of Ron's lines on 7/17 when Mike from New Jersey called and said "I've been in IT development for 20 years and mobile development for 5" and and Ant responded, "Hey, I'm in Radio" ??
You decide.

I used a very Bennington-esque line once, though maybe not an exact quote. My girlfriend of the time was jokingly asking if I'd ever sleep with a man and running through different scenarios where I might be tempted.
Her: What if the two of you were in a cabin and were caught in a mudslide?
Me: By 'mudslide' do you mean 'gay scat fest'?
Her: No!
Me: Okay, sorry. I don't know all the terms.

Yeah, I call almost everyone "Budday". It's a standard now.
When the oppurtunity arises, "Earl, you got any ______ back there, i'm fucking starving" is used a lot.
Good thread by the way
