Home Improvement.

I'm at home today after a night of quality drinking and I guess TBS shows a couple episodes everyday in syndication.

Why the hell was this show ever popular? At what point in the history of man was Tim Allen ever funny??

I get it...the little girls thought the boys were adorable. That makes sense. But there were a hell of a lot more people watching this show than just little girls. I remember this show being HUGE.

It's NOT funny!

I want this show wiped of the face of the Earth just like Shaq-Fu.

Any home remodeling show:furious: these shows are the start of remodeling ideas for my wife who thinks it's fucking great to spend time and money on making rooms look like shit.
Also all of reality shows which get people thinking we should get know all of their fucking names and care about how they did on the show and if they got kicked off or not:thumbdown:FUCK THEM:devil2:

The show has to be one of the worst successful shows of all time. Only thing worse may be Full House and the Urkel shows, but those really were aimed more at kids than anything else.

I will admit, though, that I can watch an episode of Full House and find humor in how bad it is...but Home Improvement doesn't even have that quality. It's just dreck.

Watching HI feels like slipping into a light coma. It's amazing how gigantic that show was. You'll see a ton of mediocre sitcoms that have success and hang around for years, but by and large, the sitcoms that actually become massive are generally pretty good, at least for a while. HI totally bucked that trend.

More despicable TV is definitely Sister Sister. Tia and Tamara Mowry might just be the two worst actresses in history. It's THE show to sit back and mock... or speculate on alternate endings that would justify having watched the show, i.e. murder/suicide.

Shows like Sister, Sister and SbtB at least have the "Excuse" of being made for younger audiences. Most things made for teens suck. MI was supposed to be a "real" sitcom in prime time.

Chig - nothin for nothing but Tim Allen was the douche on that show who wanted to be a guy but always screwed things up - ol Al had to come in a save him. Then Tim would go get his non material inspiration from the kid toucher on the other side of the fence. That car sat in his garage for the entire series. Maybe you're the guy he wanted to be. :smoke:

One thing that struck me about this show was that the small clips of Tool Time they showed made that show look just god-awful too. I mean, bad in comparison to the rest of the shit on the show. I could never imagine how anyone would watch that show.

It just gets shit because it's a family show and was one of the last sitcoms at a time when reality TV was swallowing up primetime schedules. It's no Arrested Development, but it gets more shit than it deserves because it's an easy target.

I've caught a few episodes and it's better than I remember it being, but I think the basic premise doesn't work. It's just hard to empathize with Raymond because you just want to ask him "Why don't you ditch this bitch you're married to and your awful family and go live the life you want?", and, at the same time, you can't quite totally ridicule him. Like noted above, it just turns out to be kind of depressing.

I didn't hate the show either...I just couldn't stand the actress who played his wife compounded with how shrewish and awful the writers made her character. I think Romano is a funny guy, I liked the oaf playing his brother, Peter Boyle was the fucking man in anything...I just couldn't take the wife and the storylines that were 90% cliches.

Put this in perspective about Home Improvement when it was in its prime. That show used to crush Seinfeld in the ratings. They were kicking their ass so bad they moved Seinfeld to Thursday nights to open for Cheers, then eventually Seinfeld took over after Cheers went off the air. But to think that show was getting crushed by that chunk of shit show Home Improvement.

I am so happy to not be alone in my hate of Home Improvement. Fricking Nick at Nite put this shit on at the time I usually watch their stupid channel to go to sleep. I know it's weird but I can't watch this shitty show it sucked then and it sucks now...a whole flipping hour of it. They really screwed up my night time ritual. Not that Nick at Nite is high quality entertainement but there has to be better sitcoms from the 90's to put on right?
