Arienette

there are just some albums that are perfect, beginning to end. you never skip a song, they're all your favorite at some point. no matter how many times you listen to them they are never not good. a short, non-comprehensive list of mine would include...

radiohead, ok computer
radiohead, the bends
bright eyes, fevers and mirrors
bright eyes, letting off the happiness
alice in chains, dirt
david bowie, ziggy stardust
elliott smith, xo
the clash, london calling
pearl jam, ten
guns n roses, appetite for destruction
jeff buckley, grace

there are a lot more of these, for me, but i just thought i'd get things started...

......................
the moon it leaves silver but never sleep
and then the silver turns to grey
oh, stay with me, arienette, until the wolves are away

Ok, I'll do my best, but some have already been mentioned. Alice and Arienette are making this tough for me not to repeat some. In particular, Radiohead's OK Computer, The Replacement's Let It Be and Jeff Buckley's Grace. I got to see Jeff Buckley play at this dive in Asbury Park once called T-Birds during that tour. Possibly the best live show I've ever seen in my life.

Anyway...

Exile on Main St.-The Rolling Stones
Every Led Zeppelin album except Coda
Every Beatles album...period
Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon AND Wish You Were Here
Soundgarden-Badmotorfinger
Weezer-The Blue Album
Nirvana-In Utero
Jimi Hendrix-Axis:Bold As Love
Tool-Undertow
Santana-Abraxas
Built To Spill-Perfect From Now On
The Police-Zenyatta Mondatta
Soul Asylum-Hang Time
Frank Zappa-Hot Rats
Beastie Boys-Check Your Head
The Black Crowes-The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion

That's about all I can think of right now.

I'm gonna get a ton of sh*t for this, but the one that comes to mind for me is:

Violator - Depeche Mode

I love a lot of their stuff, but this is the only album where I really love every song. "Blue Dress" and "I'm Waiting for the Night to Fall" are my personal favs, but everything on it is great.

Please don't mock me too much. Thanks.

I think, therefore I am..............a moron.

I know I'll get a few "Huh?"s for this one but one of my perfect albums is "But Seriously Folks" by Joe Walsh. It has the one big hit (Life's Been Good) that is actually the worst cut on the album. Songs of innocence and loss and growing up.
Give it a listen some time.

This thread kicks ass!

My newest "perfect album":

Grandpa Boy: Paul Westerberg

And I recently renewed my love for Sonic Youth--

Evol
Sister

Two VERY perfect albums!

I'm missing The Clash's London Calling and The Ramones Rocket to Russia.

And to think, I call you my friend!

i got my head, but my head is unraveling
can't keep control, can't keep track of where it's traveling
i got my heart but my heart is no good
and you're the only one that's understood

i come along but i don't know where you're taking me
i shouldn't go but you're reaching, dragging, shaking me
turn off the sun, pull the stars from the sky
the more i give to you, the more i die

A perfect album must be great all the way through. Not one mistake. I don't know if there is one without at least one song that does not stand up.

That being said I will say the Me First and the Gimme Gimmes "Take a Break" is close to perfect. But why must I go to a cover band to find near perfection. NoFX "Punk in Drublic" is also near perfection, but even such a great work as this has some flaws that prevent perfection. A few songs just never seem to feel right at the time.

I see how you can say that narc, but the progression of Hail is far better than OK. I would have said Kid A, but not everyone gtes it, so it cannot be the greatest album. bends is awesome, but they get better with every album.

Sloop John B is a great song, but it wasn't supposed to be on Pet Sounds. The studio included it because it was the hit single of the day. Imagine if Good Vibrations could be on it too? I haven't heard Smile the way Brian Wilson planned it.

MY Perfect Albums would be AC/DC BACK IN BLACK, GNR APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION, DEF LEPPARD'S PYROMANIA AND HYSTERIA, JOURNEY'S ESCAPE AND FRONTIERS AND OF COURSE BON JOVI'S SLIPPERRY WHEN WET. THERE ARE OTHERS THAT I COULD LIST BUT THOSE ARE THE ONES THAT COME TO MIND RIGHT AWAY.
