I'm going to a friends house tonight for dinner. He picked up some nice scallops from Whole Foods.
I don't want to show up empty handed. I am more of a fan of the deep reds (Cab & Merlot) My white knowledge is not so good.
What would you recommend to go with some nice fresh scallops?

Did someone leave Reverend Jackson's mic open again?

i am not into wine at all, but does a good wine really make good food that much better? could a wine not work with food and ruin it?

That is what I have heard from the wine connoisseurs. Luckily, I am a bum, and it doesn't mean all that much to me. But if you want to make an impression, you really need the correct pairing. That is why I started this thread asking for help. You don't show up at a high profile NY attorney's house with a Cabernet if he is serving seafood.:help:

1 only know 1 NY attorney, but he gets blindingly drunk on cheap beer and well drinks at Bar 9, so i would never have to worry about that.

Just give Mikeyboy the $5.99 you were gonna spend on wine and bring purple Kool-Aide, that goes great with seafood..

I know it goes well with fried scrimps..I'm not sure what they are but they sell them by my job at Kennedy Fried Chicken..

Boss is correct but I would just pick up a 40 oz Mickeys for the esteemed attorney.

skip the with-meal wine and go with a nice port and some cigars for the afters.

I know dick and a half about wine, but I always get a decent Sauvignon Blanc for lighter seafood.

Ok, now for a real, helpful answer, although it's probably too late. For scallops I would recommend a mild sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio. Scallops themselves have a mild flavor and so you wouldn't really want to have a Chardonnay and risk overpowering the dish. I would recommend Marlbourough Sauvignon Blanc. It's from New Zealand and it's mild with a hint of citrus. Parfait!

Around $10 new zealand's Fauna sauvignon blanc.

For about $30 Robert mondavi Fume blanc.

Isn't mikeyboy a high profile Washington DC attorney and not NY, or am I the only one who listens when he actually talks about legal matters?

It's much more of a heartfelt gift when you give something that you have made yourself.

Oh, and don't bother washing your feet beforehand. Clean feet are for pussies and the alcohol will kill most of the germs anyway.

Everyone else in the picture looks bored to tears. Stampy is having the time of his life, though.

I thought it was Maryland. Anyway Mikey lives in NY.

And who says it was him anyway? He's not the only guy in the city rich enough to buy scallops (TWICE)!

These things are so much better when they are held on a raised platform with no railing.
