The Gilmour-Waters things has KILLED the fans of Floyd. (I am a HUGE Floyd fan.) I have had enough of their feuds since before "The Division Bell" (metaphor, anybody) came out. Rush has been solid for almost 40+ years ... WOW.

Geddy is better than Waters. Gilmour has more soul and presence than Lifeson, but they are about equal. And ... Peart ... any friggin' questions? He's the BEST drummer ever.

I just went to RUSH and they are as good or better at 50+ than they were at 30.

I only saw the pseudo-Floyd v1.0 on 'Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour'. Also saw Waters last tours, and both showed how much each needed the other. Neither was Pink Floyd, that was apparent. Some amazing stuff, great shows, but...

I saw Rush since Moving Pictures and Snakes and Arrows has them playing as well as ever. And there best album in a looooong time coz Rush has also put out a lot of shit albums, IMHO. For every 2112 you got a Presto, for every Signals you got a Roll the Bones.

I get the feeling that Rush fans are people who think they know a lot more about music than they do, and fall for the razzle-dazzle. "Hey, look at how many drums Neal Peart plays!"

There's so much deeper emotion and transcendent meaning in Pink Floyd than Rush. I mean, it's not that I hate Rush, it's that I think they're kind of, well, hollow in the end. It's all about showing off their chops, and they've never done anything that is as affecting as "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" or certainly not "Dark Side of the Moon." In fact, I find a lot of their stuff embarassing. Like the lyrics to "The Trees" -- that's the kind of thing a 15 year old would write to feel profound. Not to mention the outright ripoffs of Ayn Rand, who was bad enough on her own.

I mean, I do like to listen to Rush occasionally, but I'll never feel the depths of emotion I can feel listening to Floyd.

They are all accomplished musicians in their own rights. I can recognize that fact but it doesn't mean I have to be extremely fond of the music they make as a group.

Getty Lee is the most annoying vocalist I might have ever heard. He's high pitched, whiney and a fucking cunt in general. He almost single handedly ruins EVER Rush song. They are a little too happy sounding for me too, use a lot of "pretty" keys, not a big fan.

Floyd is just usually trippy, slow and not my speed either. I don't dick about who was in or out or what memeber did this or that and I don't care. I won "Dark Side of the Moon" and that gets played once every couple years for 20 minutes until I remember I don't want to die just yet and I put it away.

I must be a giant Rush fan b/c I never got on board with how Presto sucks and Roll the Bones sucks ... in fact, I have an intimate relationship with just about every Rush album up to Roll The Bones. Each helps define chapters in my own life.

Somewhat related, I'll never forget hearing Bastille Day for the first time or how Free Will, though obvious and adolescent, struck me as profound at the age of 14 or so. Hemispheres introduced me to the concept of the duality of man and so forth.. really swell group that Rush.

Floyd has allowed me to explore new and enlightened areas of consciousness. Shine on Crazy Diamond will forever be one of my favorite whole album sides. I had sex for the first time while the Wall was on VHS, so I'm partial. Goddamit she had great tits.
