What TV shows do you enjoy falling asleep while watching? When I was younger it was "The Odd Couple" because I had them all memorized so once I saw which one was on I could fall asleep and dream the rest.

Lately for some reason I like falling asleep to "Rob & Big". Believe me, I don't normally like the show but for some reason its relaxing to watch for a few minutes and then fall asleep. I think it has to do with their voices and the fact that ITS SO RETARDED!!!

What shows cause you to pleasantly slip into dream land?

Anything on Adult Swim. The setback, though, is you wake up to a kid's cartoon in the morning.

I fall asleep to anything on TV as long as I am sitting in a position that is even remotely comfortable. The last time was The First 48, which is a great show. (It's not "48 Hours" Dave.)

I don't have any TV service right now, but when I go to bed I put on a "Futurama" or "Aquateen Hunger Force" DVD. I love both shows, however I'm out within 5 minutes.

There are certain narrators on History Channel shows that are perfect for getting me to sleep. Not that they aren't interesting. It's just that their voices are good for it.

Anything on Adult Swim. The setback, though, is you wake up to a kid's cartoon in the morning.

I am right with ya on the Adult Swim, and the remedy to the problem is getting a tv with a sleep timer. I set mine to 90 minutes, and wake up refreshed with the tv off.
I have heard that your brain doen't go into a full, deep REM sleep if the tv stays on, and that you don't dream as vividly.

I have also found that the History Channel works well, too.

When I want to sleep, I turn the TV off.

Any outside noise will interupt your REM cycle. You may think you fall asleep faster, but you won't have that deep sleep that your body needs.

Edit: What ChimneyFish said.

It used to be Deadliest Catch like the first season it was on because I figured how interesting can this be...but then I would stay up and watch it and that's how I got hooked on the show. I have to be careful not to turn anything on that I might remotely find interesting because sometimes you end up in the middle of one of those marathons and it's 3 in the morning.

I usually turn on Court TV (or I guess it's Tru TV now) usually some forensics file show or COPS is on and that will generally put me out.

That's why I set the sleep timer on my remote for 60 minutes. If I let the TV stay on all night, I end up dreaming about whatever the History Channel is talking about.

Oh, and I NEVER sleep with a news channel on anymore. It can give me really depressing dreams.

Damn. I had a BAD one today!

About 10 years ago (when I was heavy into drugs) I committed the ultimate drug user's sin, and stole from a friend. To this day, I still have dreams about being back in the old neighborhood, and trying to avoid anyone who knew me.

Today, I was having the same dream, but at the same time, my TV was tuned into Investigation Discovery Channel. They were doing a bunch of shows about murders. During this one about someone that had brutally stabbed someone, I dreamed that the shame I've felt all these years was not about theft, but me brutally stabbing my friend.

I woke up in a total panic. For at least 30-40 seconds, I really believed that I had murdered someone all those years ago, and no one knew about it. After that terrifying 30 seconds, I realized that the dream was EXACTLY what was going on on the show, so I calmed down. But damn... That has to be one of the scariest 30 seconds of my life! I'm still a little freaked about about it.

NO MORE VIOLENT TV FOR ME WHEN I'M SLEEPING!!!!

A friend gave me this video tape to watch and I sleep like a baby. I even got used to wearing the blue Nikes to bed...

Sanford and Son, if you turn the volume (laughtrack) down. Or the news, that's always quality napping.

I am pretty random about what shows I fall asleep on, so I won't think about it.

Shows that interrupt me from falling asleep:
Futurama, How It's Made, Mythbusters, Man vs. Wild, Bizarre Foods, SurvivorMan, No Reservation, First 48

I don't sleep much during the week...

My wife and I put on a Seinfeld DVD every night when we get ready to go to sleep.

Great to put it on repeat and roll over at some point in the middle of the night and laugh at what you hear in the background.
