I might be the only one here watching this show and I didn't see a thread for it but here it goes.

Aaron, Adam, Kelsey, and squint eyes Lisa remain. They made a HUGE mistake last night getting rid of Shane, he was the strongest heading into this week, he had a terrible week doing the live spot on Rachel Ray but his food was still very strong. Coin slot eyes should have went home.

I like Adam alot but he's clearly not a strong cook, he was huge last night though and has a shot if he finishes strong. Aaron is good, not great on camera but a good cook. Kelsey is my favorite, despite last night. She can definitely cook and has the raw on camera talent that she can make it.

Odds of winning:
Kelsey 40%
Aaron 30%
Adam 25%
Bird pussy eyes 5%

Final 4 off to Vegas.

i like this show
i am glad that horrible indian woman is gone
i liked shane the best and will miss him

that being said
if any of these contestants actually get a tv show
i won't watch it
none of them are good enough to have their own show
and that includes shane

food network has taken a dive
ace of cakes sucks

I really like Lisa The Vulcan. She really takes the judges' criticisms to heart and it's great trainwreck TV to watch her try to fit her squarepeg self into the Food Network hole.

That broad with the awful rigid hair looks like Parker Posey in Best in Show, with none of the hotness lurking beneath the fascade. She could cook like the gods, but would they ever give someone a show with that 'do?

Kelsey 5%
Aaron 45%
Adam 0%
Lisa 50%

First, the biggest problem with the show is that they keep doing Iron Chef style competitions. Let these people cook as long as they need to - or prep as long as they need to. Giving them 45 minutes to make good food for 12 members of Gourmet Magazine staff is pathetic. This isnt the next Iron Chef...

I wasn't disapointed that they dumped Shayne last week... when you hear that the guys is trying to do a French Food show, and hasn't been to France - I think they did him a favor. He needs to get out and work and live there before he is ready for anything.

I think Kelsey has little chance... her cooking is strait out of culinary school and I think she anoys most people. I would expect her or Adam to be kicked out this week. Adam is a host, not a cook.

I think the winner is Aaron or Lisa. I am rooting for Aaron. Lisa can really cook but obviously you can tell she anoys some people. I actually think Lisa fills a void on the Food Network more than Aaron. The Neelys have the soul food avenue locked up, and Paula Deen has Southern Cooking down. It seems like that is what Aaron brings to the table. He is a great cook, but everything he made other than Pizza was something I would expect from the Neelys or Paula. If he is going to win he has to show skill outside of those foods. His personality would be great though.

Lisa is an actual female chef who knows how to cook. I also think Fine Dining with a way to adapt it to the regular viewer would add something to the network. I dont think they have a female doing fine foods with the exception of Giada doing Italian. Kelsey would also add something if she did go after a younger audience - but I just dont see her winning.

Why doesnt Cat Cora have a show yet? Being an editor sucks... jump ship!

I'm rooting for Aaron and Kelsey to win. I was thinking after the last episode, Aaron would do well with a "cooking with your kids" point of view.

I want to grab her and give her a makeover. That haircut makes her look way too severe, and then she always slaps on heavy bronzer, wayyy too frosty blue white eyeshadow, and so pink it's almost white lip gloss. DISASTER.

I've really gotten into these shows the last season or so (this one, Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen). The Top Chef contestants are clearly superior. Here is my assessment:
Aaron: he's probably my favorite, because he can cook and has the personality, as witnessed last week
Adam: is it just me, or does Bobby Flay fucking hate this guy? not enough cooking ability, other than simple shit I think I could even make
Kelsey: like someone put Rachael Ray in the machine from The Fly, and some sugar, gumdrops and puppy-dog tails got in there
Lisa: I'd like to see someone deliver the C-punch to her. I loved last week that she asked that kid what she liked, and then cooked whatever the fuck she wanted anyway

Then again, how much does this contest really matter. Guy Fieri won the first one, and now he's got his show: Diners, Drive-Ins, Dives and TGI Fridays

Anyone need some pizza poppers or extreme fajitas?

I just think she isnt a cook who does things in 75 minutes... like I said they keep treating this like Iron Chef... when its not...

I hope they give the final two a day to film a whole show... or a 15 minute show where they can use the whole day to cook / prep etc..

What's with how aggressively foodnetwork is going after the urban market. The Neelys have 2 shows, theres that chubbish latino/black girl, a kitchen bootcamp type show, and now Big Daddy beats out catwoman and the philly guy.

I liked Adam's show the best as well... after being on Lisa and Aaron forever - I was totally rooting for Adam at the end of the show... Lisa was clearly the #3 (which was funny because all the adds this week featured her - so I thought it was a lock)... and Aaron's show I thought was the second best. I thought it was pretty clear Adam's was the most fun.

I think the judges said it at the end - they picked the person who was most ready NOW for a show... Lisa would have obviously needed training on how to be on camera and cook at the same time... Adam just wasnt a good enough chef - if it wasnt SMOKING something - he couldn't do it... Aaron was the only one who could put a show together tomorrow as he had the personality and definately could cook...

Good show... I hope they do the Next Iron Chef again - as I never saw that. Michael Simon, the last winner, is taking over for Robert Irvine on Dinner Impossible - so there is a spot.

I agree about the interactive show. before the last break of the finale, I saw a preview for a new show that is all about fan interaction. At that point I said there's no way Adam will win, they just took his idea instead.

I was Michael Simon on the new Dinner: Impossible. I did not like him in the role at all, Robert Irvine played the role so much better, Simon came off as too cocky, not really worried enough. Would like to see a new the Next Iron Chef as well.

I only watched the last two episodes, but I thought that Lisa was going to win it all back in the beginning when they introduced everyone. I know I'm in the minority here, but I think she's hot. She definitely has to lose that stupid hairdo, but she is pretty and would have definitely been camera friendly.

Anyway, watching the finale, even though the wife and I though "Hungry in Philly" made for the best show idea, I knew he wasn't going to win. During the commercials, they were showing some other Food Network show called "Ask Aida" and based on the description it sounded like the same exact premise. I figured they wouldn't have two identical shows so that meant Adam was out.

I dont know- I fucking hated Debbie who was absolutely the fakest person on the planet, but I think Jeffry is a dull douche bag that listens to pan flute cds, and Melissa has absolutely nothing to offer but needs to constantly tell you how she has so much more to offer than she gets credit for.

I also think Melissas story keeps changing- mother of 4 mother of 4 blah blah blah but this week she lived in Paris, she was a big shot business woman, and when she says she left it to cook I think there was an implication that she went to cooking school. I also find it to be in somewhat poor taste to mention your mothers suicide right before dinner, and to help you advance your career.

And on a subtle note it was funny how the three contestants had to connect to Julia Childe in such a strained and forced way to a number of people that actually knew her.

2 of them specifically referanced their culinary point of view and its like 'Wow, you sound so genuine when you use that phrase serving people food."

That movie wouldn't look so bad if it was just a bio of Childe, who lead a pretty interesting life. It's our own god awful artistic reality that no one feels the need to do anything amazing anymore, its enough to blog about someone elses accomplishment.

Yeah, I've been thinking all along that Melissa clearly was the most marketable and was sure to win, but after they showed Jeffrey's demo I started to have second thoughts.

I think they already had their decision made beforehand who they wanted to win because Jeffrey's finale was a better showing. At least in my opinion it was.

I disagree about Jeffrey's demo, I thought it was kindof flawed. He was talking too fast and not connecting with the camera, he also didn't do a great job of making an unfamiliar ingrediant more accesible (unless they just cut his explination out.) His recipe was terrible too- I'm not going to drop money on a strip steak so I can slather it in harissa and mayo and put it in a sandwich, and I'm not going to use more expensive yellow tomatos because I know they contrast with the green arugala underneath my roll.

Jeffrey definately has a better concept, but the show itself was underexecuted and probably has a limited number of topics.

jeff put himself in an odd situation. i absolutely love his concept, and hope that food network gives him his own show, too. (both adam and aaron have their own shows, aaron being the winner that season).

jeff's idea was to introduce ingredients that you and i may have never heard of, or may have never thought to use. great idea. but where he lacked was he didnt give an alternative. something like "if you cannot find nor have access to harissa, then you can use /do this as an alternative....."

i think that they chose melissa to go with the working mother / stretch your budget dollars angle.

I think Jeffrey's show is more limited in appeal. Seriously, how many people have access to harisa (sp)? My wife commented that we could possibly get it at Whole Foods, but maybe not.

And I question whether people will be driven by an ingredient. I think viewers are more interseted in dishes. Show me how to make a great dish that I never tried before, and I'll watch so I can learn how to make it. Think of it, if you were checking out the info for his show on a tv guide, and it said, uses harisa to make a steak sandwich, for me, it doesn't grab me.

That being said, Jeffrey did make me want to try the sandwich, but in the long run, I wouldn't have watched the show.

Plus, I'm sick of his lazy smile, head cocked to the left, eyebrow raising look he seemed to do every other shot.

It did come up between me and my brother last night that basing a show entirely on exotic, hard to find ingrediants isn't going to work. My grandmother didn't know what a tortilla was, she isn't going to pay attention to Jeffrey. Also, his show seems like a constant reminder that he's a rich, new age douche bag.

I dont want any demo shows though, and I wonder how much of the ratings they make up.

Has any food network star loser still got a gig with Food Network?

you ever hear of Guy Fieri?

and the black dude from last year still has a show but not a star.

Aarti was my pick for a while, but they seem to be smitten with Tom.

oh sorry, i misread.

Adam from season four, Aarons season, got a show. and now I saw a commercial for another. he was funny but not the best cook. His show was Dirty Jobs with food.

Bob Tuschman was trying to blow Herb, thats why they kept him around. I never thought Tom had a shot either, I had Aarti all the way. I think you'll see Tom again but not Herb.

They've been trying to brand an Indian chef for awhile, which is why this makes sense. A much better season than last year, the ending is a little anticlimactic.

I cant believe theyre doing another Next Iron Chef. Garces has only had like 2 battles.

Aarti was revealed as the winner after the first few eps. FN fucked up when updating their Chefs List on their website. Someone added Aartis name by accident and after seeing it, the took it down for over an hour. Then, they re-added her along with the other contestants.

Really? Food Network already has a TON of nerdy/hyper cooking guys in the guy from Chefs vs. City, Gertler, Fieri, etc. Why add another one?

I think it was the skill he showed corresponding on the Iron Chef challenge, he's be comfortable on show taped out of a studio. And he does have a slight Guy Fieri thing, so they might like to copy that a bit.

Skill? He took notes and knew was paprika was. Not exactly hard. And Herb had excellent commentary on Iron Chef too.

Aarti shouldn't have won. She's a mediocre cook who adds tumeric to everything and calls it Indian cuisine. She knows nothing about food and the personality of a naïve 8 year old.

It was the ease he was doing it. I know what paprika and garum masala are too, but I would have trouble presenting the information in a calm, organized way as a floor commentator in the middle of Iron Chef.

I think Herb has much less of a chance of catching on because way less people watch the food network for healthful reasons. The fixation on food is kindof counterintuitive to the lets be reserved and eat healthy POV.

Aarti's food tested pretty well with the judges. I think the lack of Indian cooking on food tv in general and the fact that she had a strong and consistant POV the entire series is what put her over. I wouldn't say she knows nothing about cooking, but its certainly going to help her that she knows the most about a style of cooking most of the audience doesn't know anything about. It also, sortof, doesn't matter how well she executes food. She just needs to present it well. Rachel Rae is constantly cooking stuff that looks like garbage, and shes probably the biggest person they have.

After watching the cooking channel last night, I kind of have to agree that Herb may end up there, kind of like the "minor leagues" to work his way back up to the mothership.

They were showing a program that was some sort of Canadian cross between Good Eats, Mythbusters, and indy rock. AND IT WAS HORRIBLE.

I thought about it again last night, and I realized something:

I don't like Indian food at all, but I'd watch her show to see if there is something new that could open my mind about it.

That's important. That's the whole idea of the show. But Herb could have done the same thing with latin food, even though I love latin food.

Tom's cooking concept was basically the same as Fieri's. Manly cooking with big flavors.

Aarti also has a warmth about her and a killer voice and diction. That's very important. I think when it came down to it, Aarti was a lot more comfortable in front of the camera than Herb. Also, Aarti has lost at least 15 pounds since the finale was taped. She was on the "after show" last night and looked much slimmer.

But I still think Herb will get a gig on Food Network/Cooking Channel.

The terrible show you saw was called "Food Jammers" and it is really terrible. There are a lot of really awful original programs on Cooking Channel. I would love to go at Mo Rocca with a claw hammer.

I picked the Aarti Paarti to win very early on. It was pretty obvious from the jump that the network was drooling over a new Indian cuisine show.

I was looking to see if anyone on the algorewebs had posted a screen cap of the foodnetwork's screw up of giving it away on their site, but I found this instead...

Aarti Party was on this weekend and I have to admit its a really decent show. I dont usually watch demo cooking shows but it heald my interest because she was doing slightly different things. Making sloppy joes wasn't particularly new, but I've never seen anyone make those indian pudding pops. She's pretty easy in front of the camera and there was only a moment or two where her character felt forced. It's a show that could grab my interest if I was flipping around. And big boobs.

Couple of things:

1) I saw a Food Network promo with Aarti and she was promoting some kind of appearance in New York. Now, I like Aarti and think she's cute without being overly creepy (see: Robinson, Claire) but the problem was, she was wearing a Herve Leger bandage dress.

If you are Aarti's body type, there is NO WAY IN HELL you should be wearing a Leger bandage dress. She looked like she was 6 months pregnant, no lie.

2) I saw another promo, and they apparently gave Tom his own show where he finds oversized food.

3) If they gave Tom a show, why doesn't Herb have one?????
