"Before 2001, the only animated film nominated for Best Picture was Disney's Beauty and the Beast (1991). Because of the creation of the Best Animated Feature category in 2001, Beauty and the Beast (1991) may ultimately be noted as the ONLY animated film ever nominated for Best Picture" ~ http://www.filmsite.org/bestpics2.html

Wall-E is the best movie this year so far in my mind. Without a doubt.

Not that I don't think it can't win. Just the wording sounds funny best "picture" and it was something that was drawn.

Wall-e was good, but im not sure its best picture material. I mean it WAS cute, and innovative in that they engage the viewer without dialogue for so much of the movie, and the scenery and personality given the characters was excellent. But its still geared to kids and only 96 minutes long.

tough sell for BEST PICTURE.

If ever one deserved to be nominated for best picture, I really thought it was Persepolis last year over freaking Juno.

The Wizard of Oz was a kids film and it is one of the best of all time. That doesn't matter at all.

I had high expectations going into it. Totally delivered. Saw it on DLP and looked amazing. Best thing I have seen this year. I got a little embarrassed watching that chihuahua trailer though.

I took my kids to see Wall-E, and I couldn't fucking believe it. It was a great movie.

You could take the exact same plot, use real actors and live action, and make a really dark and mind-blowing sci-fi movie.

I'm going back to see it again this week. Wall-E was a great movie with a definite dark side to it.

Wall-E is the best movie this year so far in my mind. Without a doubt.

I might have to agree with this.

A kids movie it may be, but damn I really enjoyed Wall-E. So much I watched it twice in a weekend and it's been a long time since I did that with a movie.

And the DVD had a short film about Burn-E, which was just flat out hilarious. Give him a movie next!

I agree about the trailer, it is so bad I refuse to ever watch it.

I don't care if it wins an Oscar, a Peoples Choice Award or even the Beanie Cup, I won't see it.

I don't think animated movies should be eligible for best picture. It just seems like a very different craft.

Hypothetically it can, but accurately, I really don't it can happen. There's always going to be a more moving film that's filmed with live actors.
