My inno is fucked. It wont dock properly anymore, every time I stick it into a home dock it says "check antenna" even though it has 3 or 4 bars and is playing away. With the check antenna message comes the failed recording sessions since the fucking thing thinks it has lost signal.

Now I have an Inno that I paid $300 for 18 month ago, that is useless for what I need. Of course I also have a contract with XM, and about $300 worth of accessories. My wife is not happy about any more money getting spent on my little obsession (she reminds me regularly that radio has been free for a hundred years, but I need to pay for it for some reason)

Anyone have any alternatives for me besides another $100 inno that may or may not last? Or better yet anyone want to give me a used inno out of pity?

Have you tried updating the firmware?

Make sure the problem isn't the docking unit or the antenna. I once had a skyfi that did the exact same thing ("check antenna" but had good signal and played) and the problem ended up being the boombox not the radio. Also, while it's playing, wiggle the radio back and forth a little in the docking unit and see if the message goes away.

Is it possible that the good signal you are getting is from the internal antenna and that the "check antenna message" is because the external antenna is bad? Run your finger down the cable and feel for breaks. As a last resort, I think you can unscrew and remove the back of the antenna and look for broken or cold solder joints.

Never thought about that with the antenna, mine shit the bed on my myfi. They're not very good for heavy use of docking / undocking daily. They sell docking cradles at myradiostore.com I think. That was all I needed when my myfi was doing the same thing. Do you have a car kit? Does that docking cradle work? If you know someone else with an inno, try their cradle.

Buy a new one, pull the switcheroo with the cradle and return it. Fuck them for making an inferior product.

Thanks guys. I have a boombox and a home cradle, does it in both. I have definitely ruled out the boombox. It does not do it in the car cradle.

While I would lve to do a switcheroo, I am pretty sure the radio ID will fuck me there. If only Wal Mart and there ridiculously liberal return policy sold innos I would be laughing.

No pity donations of a new inno yet?

... not very helpful, but my Inno was 38$ on Ebay...

... in package.

What do you mean by "contract"? The most required service I've ever heard for any XM deal is 3 months. If you mean you paid for a couple of years in advance, that will transfer to a new radio, no problem at all.

this is a dumb reply but you didn't state this in the first post: reboot and take battery out. my inno freezes up on occasion and that fixes my problems.

I hear that hottub might have an extra nexus hanging around and he's looking for money because he is tightening his belt.
