I can't wait! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910936/)

I'm sure everyone has started seeing the trailers, but if not:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6o-LdTrKdb0&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6o-LdTrKdb0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Definitely the movie I want to see most this summer now besides TDK. Good director, the same guys that wrote Superbad wrote this, it's got the Judd Apatow "crew"...in general, it just looks gloriously violent and vulgar and funny and stupid and I can't wait.

I'm looking forward to this, dig Seth Rogen movies.

Not to mention that AVN Crossover Star of the Year Stormy is in it.

I went to see Harold and Kumar 2 and got wicked high just before the film

then the preview for "Pineapple Express" came on....
and I became very sad that I wasn't watching "Pineapple Express"

it's basically the only film I've been looking forward to since "No Country...."

I appreciate that he's using James Franco, a long haired version of Franco at that but this doesn't even look remotely funny or impressive.

i've yet to be inspired by the judd apatow crew, especially seth rogan (i even have reservations about him in the upcoming kevin smith flick)

i've never seen their movie in the theaters -- only the unnecessarily long, unrated/extended DVDs

At this point, he's the only reason I DON'T have any reservations about the Kevin Smith flick.

The scene where he kicks the window had me laughing out loud at my desk. I hope this movie is a little less juvenile than superbad, which I still liked.

I'm worried about high expectations. The reason Superbad was great is that there were no expectations. It was still an early Apatow, before he was dubbed the greatest comedy producer in Hollywood and no one knew that Michael Cera could be funny outside AD.

Now, it's an Apatow production, written by the Superbad guys, starring 'star' Seth Rogan. It could be way too much pressure for a simple comedy to take.

That said, I'm sure it's going to be the greatest comedy film since Duck Soup, and the greatest drug-related movie since Airplane! - someone had to be on something for the entire duration of the film's writing/production/release.

I think I am the last person earth who doesnt own an ipod or understand the infatuation with Seth Rogen and Apatow. I liked "Freaks and Geeks." But I dont think their movies are as clever and funny as everyone else. Didnt like Knocked Up or Superbad and this movie looks silly. Maybe I should get an apartment in Brooklyn next to Blowhard...

What about the TV series Undeclared?

Or The 40-Year-Old Virgin?

Apatow was also the main writer for the Larry Sanders Show its last couple of season.

I haven't been able to get into any of those series/movies either, with the exception of
Undeclared; it wasn't my all-time favorite, but it was a good show.

And does anybody else think Pineapple Express sounds like the name of a strip-mall Chinese restaurant? Before I saw the trailer, I thought it was going to be another "Waiting" but with an Asian flair.

I would NEVER say a bad word about Larry Sanders. I didnt like 40 Year Old Virgin and Undeclared was enjoyable because of Loudon Wainright III. I had no idea Apatow wrote for The Larry Sanders Show though. He's obviously a funny guy, I just dont like his movies that much.

I was watching a Young Comedians HBO special a few weeks ago from the early 1990's and Apatow was one of the stand-ups. AWFUL!!!!!! Thank god he made it as a writer.

Just saw it. good movie, but to be honest the climax was a bit over the top for me. I know it is a stoner movie and requires a bit of suspension of disbelief, but it just went on for way too long.

i loved this movie. best comedy of the year so far (tropic thunder may top it)

here's what i liked:
-James Franco: one of the best stoners in movie history, the theater laughed at everything he said. did have a hard time getting past him being the guy who sucked in Spiderman but i knew he could act from Freaks and Geeks so I think this will be a good boost for his career.

-Craig Robinson: motherfucker has funny bit part after funny bit part. some lucky exec needs to give him a starring role. the ambiguous gay hitman was played great.

-Danny McBride: I guess he's officially a staple of the Apatow fraternity. his character was def my favorite. all the absurdity he brought played so well.

I'm not a stoner and i wouldn't say this is a stoner flick per se. just a comedy based around weed (ok, maybe it is).

I loved how the comedy in the movie started as typically crude (but still very funny) and became something else when it took a turn towards absurd, some of the humor late in the movie had an Anchorman vibe to it. definitely didn't take itself too seriously. it knew the plot was ludicrous so it took a different approach.

Fav lines/scenes:
Hey look, my thumb looks like my cock.

Dale: Yeah but if you do bad stuff you're going to come back as something bad like a slug or an anal bead. But if you do something heroic then you'll come back as like an eagle or a dragon, or Jude Law. Now which would you rather be?
Red: The anal bead wouldn't be bad. I mean I guess it would depend on whose anal bead it was.
Dale Denton: It's *my* anal bead.
Red: [I] Dragon then i guess.

And when Craig Robinson did this little goofy thing when he said the food was still warm and shoved his hands in the mac and cheese and mash potatoes and moaned a little i lost my shit.

go see it and i cant wait for Tropic Thunder.

holy fucking shit was this movie terrible. not only does it suck but why do stoners have to defend it just because it is about weed. if i hear another person say, "you have to be high man and then it is funny."

if you NEED to be high for a movie to be funny, it AIN'T FUCKIN FUNNY.

you notice in the unmasked when he said they wrote this movie in 2001. well that means they never made the movie then because it sucks ass and the reason they made it now is because seth has a lot of heat to him. see any stallone movie.

the key stoner guy was not that funny, there were zero funny cameos, the crazy adventure was boring, their stupid buddy relationship arc was so predictable and just typical hollywood lameness, and there weren't even any funny weed references.

the ONLY time i laughed during the whole film was a stupid Chacie reference. i bet i was the only one in the theater to get the zapped reference.

AND rosie perez did some of the worst acting i have ever seen. and that face of hers is shot.

what's up next for seth rogan........probably a volleyball movie with someone from napoleon dynamite

Seth Rogan is the new Will Ferrel.

dont get me wrong i liked the movie, but felt that other than what was shown in the trailer that the movie kinda lost its touch and was silly.

By the guy that likes Ryan Adams' "rock" over his countrified tunes.

I thought the movie was funny. If you like the other Apatow/Rogan-flicks and TV shows, you'll likely like this one. If not, it's probably not for you. And no, you don't "need to be high."

And we're back on the hating Will Ferrel bandwagon?

Random Will Ferrel aside...I finally saw Stranger Than Fiction while on vacation, and it was fantastic. It was also the only other time besides Secretary where I found Maggie "Draw my turtle face to get into art school" Gyllenhall hot.

I just rented it yesterday. It was OK, I suppose, definitely a part of the Seth Rogan/Judd Apetow universe. One big mistake I made is I watched the extended version, not the theatrical version. As people have noted previously, I guess it's funnier if you're high.

Maybe it's because I just rented Burn After Reading the day before, but they struck me as having a similar idea. A lot of unconnected acts are misinterpreted by stupid people which leads to killings.

I honestly enjoy Kevin Smith more, I guess because I like the moral values he brings into some of his films like Clerks and Clerks 2.

I had 2 things against this movie before i even saw it. def felt like there were enough apatow/rogen movies out at the time that there didn't need to be another one and i've only seen franco in spiderman and thought he was the WORST. i think i was that bored and had a free ticket so i figured what the hell...

but besides 40 year old virgin and maybe Superbad I could NOT stop laughing this entire movie. for one, i'm a huge stoner and this is a stoner movie. if you don't smoke you wont' get it, the end. i don't know how stoners could see this and not laugh, unless you were watching it w/ people who don't smoke of course.

If it wasn't for Ledger i'd say give Franco that best actor oscar. Rarely if ever does an actor change my opinion on them in a role, and i really thought franco was just a pretty boy who couldn't act. he was so f'n dead on w/ his role, if you blaze you've def met a kid just like that. i was laughing hard at the main jokes but i was laughing harder at their just regular talking, the entire dialouge was killer

and it was an insane action! ridiculously violent which has never been done like this in a comedy, at least a slapstick (dark comedys do all the time) and i'm a sucker for killer action movies so this comedy had it all

40 year old virgin is the best, superbad was f'n great, sarah marshall was surprisingly funny and i think knocked up is a drama more then a comedy, i find it by far the weakest one. but i went in thinking this movie would be garbage and i def think it's easy to say its not funny if you just want to be lazy and not really watch the film. but for real kids, i almost passed on this movie and i'm glad i didn't, if you're a stoner def check it out. oh and best title ever! #85
