View Full Version : I Hate Music Ringers

I don't know what they're called or anything...maybe answer tones or something like that.
I am not talking about ring tones that play music when someone calls....I am talking about the music people feel that you should listen to while you wait for them to answer their phone.
There is a sweet sounding lady that says, "Please enjoy this music until your party can be reached." or however it's worded.
NO I do not enjoy that music. Every once in a blue moon it may be a song I like...but that doesn't mean I want to hear it instead of a ring.....especially whenever I am calling someone it's for work and it's usually bad news so I am freaking out about what I am going to say while I am also getting ready to get yelled at.
So "Don't Stop Believing" is really not what I want to hear...because more than likey the customer is going to be a douche and I don't want some sweet phone lady's voice giving me any high hopes.

Ringback tones?
My doctor's office uses "Lean on Me." Maybe it's supposed to be uplifting and make you feel better, but I find it depressing, especially when I end up getting the run-around from whoever finally answers the phone.

Lean on Me (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lean_on_Me_(film)) is one of my guilty-pleasure movies. i'll never turn it off when i come across it. "They used to call me Crazy Joe, well now they can call me Batman!"

Hasn't it been established in other threads that KHB doesn't know how to read?

If you're having a "phone fight" and need to call back a few times you'll learn to hate that song real god damn quick.

OMG Amy, you're so right. My sister has this awful Mary J song that's completely distorted, and it's so awful that I have to scream at her when she finally answers.

I usually associate these things to white trash Hip Hop fans. I'm usually right.

In my day, we didnt have CELL PHONES with their RINGTONES and their HIP HOP music singing us all to sleep. We had PENCILS and PAPER and STAMPS that we licked till our tongues were raw AND WE LIKED IT!!

I say let people have their own fun and don't worry about it
but............................................... .........people aren't having fun because they're not the ones who are listening.....................................unle ss they call their phone all the time.......................which I doubt.

It was cool when it first started, but it really got out of hand.
Now my wife and I just compete for who can have the most obnoxious ringback. I usually go with any song with Jesus in the title (they are all obnoxious) and she goes with some new, popular "rap" song. I think she has that awful lil' Wayne song right now, so she's definitely destroying me in the obnoxious rating.

I refuse to call my sister because of her ringback tones as well. Between the distortion and the volume, I just send her texts instead.
My wife uses the "Please enjoy this music until your party can be reached." tones.
She sets them up and since she never calls herself she forgets about them. She hardly ever changes them unless I mention to her how tired I am of hearing the same song over and over and over and over.
No matter what song it is, it gets tired REAL fast.
