Why you so cheap? Why you so gay?

There is nothing worse than splitting up a bill. I throw $20 if I only had a sandwich. Then I cover tips if they try to be cheap.

Worst scenario: $1 drafts at happy hour, get the tab, and they want to tip $2 on a $12 tab. YOU STILL HAD 12 BEERS!

Not enough. I think every single tomato should be personally inspected by GWB in the oval office.

I can't trust that man to do that sort of detail work.

I ask for seperate checks a lot because I often don't carry cash and I don't trust my buddies to take care of things like they should. I always tip big, too.

You can settle up afterwards. You know what a pain the balls it is to be in the middle of a rush and have to waste time A) figuring out the amount to break the check into and then B) run X amount of separate cards?

Besides you should always carry at least $20 on you for emergencies. You young punks and your fancy debit cards!

Always open your own separate tab. I don't even go for the "kitty" method of paying either, because someone always has too much, or too little for things to be even.

Or drink alone. That works too.

RhinoinMN

Around here we don't let anybody pay for us, but we insist on paying for everybody else. Usually ends up in useless bickering and ultimately separate checks.

Eli, epo you guys experience this?

When I was out west, they couldn't wait for me to offer to pay. I don't know what it is like out east.

I threw a fin at the chick at Bar 9 who gave me a free beer because I was waiting patiently for so long. What looks better: a $5 bill up front or an indistinguishable credit card receipt?

because CASH tips are not trackable by the US Govt.
if you tip on a CC, your waiter/waitress can be taxed on it.

You beat me to it. Actually it is usually best to tip in cash any time you are tipping, but especially if you are tipping more than is considered a standard tip (15%-18% I think). The wait-person will make out better because they only have to claim the presumed base amount of the tip.

Screw emergencies. With as many credit and debit cards as I have, if I'm in an emergency so bad where those are useless, I'm likely dead with or without $20.

And when I want a seperate check, I always know ahead of time, so I ask even before we order anything. I never do it afterwards. If my buddies are fucking things up, I'll just pay the whole thing myself and they can settle with me and handle the bg tip as opposed to dicking around the service.

Oh, and pardon me if I don't give a shit if people get taxed on CC tips. I'm a big believer in big tipping, but hey, I gotta pay taxes on what I earn...why the fuck should waiters be exempt from that? I'll take care of you for your service and then some, but everyone's gotta pay the piper.

Honestly. I can drink up $20 in about 5 minutes at a bar. And that is on Harrisburg prices. I always tip higher on the CC receipt...I think it is a mental thing. And why should bartenders and waiters not pay taxes on income?

It'll get you closer to home or someplace you'd rather be than in the streets with a million panicky petes.

What, they haven't invented cabs that take credit cards in NYC yet? And hell, with a massive blackout, you're likely walking. What am I gonna do, offer 20 bucks to someone to carry me?

Maybe you could fold your twenty dollar bill into a paper airplane, hop in, and then ride those famous Chicago winds to safety.

I know something worse. All you can drink affairs. Especially charity ones. I've seen people not tip at all. Usually the staff is working for free because it's a charity deal, so you got to tip.

True. I like to attend the local wetdowns. Buy a mug for 5 bucks and drink all day.
At these functions, you don't necessarily tip, but you buy a sticker, a T Shirt, a nice sausage and peppers. It all goes back to the Fire House.
