The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor takes place in 1946 as the O'Connell clan comes together to fight a new mummy threat from the East. Alex O'Connell (now played by Luke Ford) accidentally awakens the evil mummy Emperor Han of China (Jet Li) and the terra cotta army of Xi'an. With their previous undead expertise, Rick and Evelyn O'Connell (Maria Bello, stepping in for Rachel Weisz) race to China to save the day.
I'll admit I like the Mummy movies. They're loud, CGI filled fun. This movie might cleanse the stale taste that Indy 4 left in me for a good action/adventure flick.
Plus I like Chinese history, one of the longest on the planet - so why not make those Terra Cotta Warriors come to life?
And did I see a YETI!? Sold.

The 1st Mummy film, in my opinion, was such a great all around fun pop-corn movie. It had pretty much everything. Good story, great characters and action, and humor that hit just right.
The Mummy II was kind of eh to me. It wasnt bad, but it was seriously lacking compared to the 1st one.
As for this one here....I'll def go see it but I really don't think there was a need for a 3rd. AND NO RACHEL WEISZ ??

It is a guilty pleasure and something I'm not very vocal about, but yes, I also admit I like the Mummy movies. It was something my sister and I could agree on tv-wise (ALL she watches is CSI/Law and Order stuff), so whenever it was on we'd watch it. We've seen both of them a bunch of times.
I'm a fan of all things ancient Egypt and a mythology buff, so it's just interesting to see it come to life, and the CGI is usually pretty good (sorry, not you Scorpio King).

AND NO RACHEL WEISZ ??
She has an Oscar, therefore is too good for such a flick.

The fight scene with Rachael Weiz and Patrica Velasquez in the second one makes it worth watching, in my opinion.

The stairway scene in A History of Violence might make this one worth watching.

Brenden Fraser needs to drop the fuckin' dickhead haircut. It's not 1992 anymore!
Besides that this looks like its going to be a fun movie. I bet popcorn Ronnie gives it 10 out of 10 popcorn buckets.

you know i saw a preview for journey to the center of the earth with brendan fraser and i was thinking i guess this is like a mummy 3
and bam here's mummy 3
which leads me to ask this question
sometimes we hear about movies years in advance, while others just kinda pop up a month before they are about to release and you're like wtf why havent i heard anything about it
question is ... do they do that on purpose or some movies just dont get a lot of pre hype ??
