to check direct x version type "dxdiag" in the run box

very unlikely it has anything to do with direct x. You should check mac emulation forums for help or see if vmware makes a free workstation version for mac.

Are you saying you have XP installed on it's own partition but are accessing it virtually in your MAC OS?

If you have it on it's own partition (via Boot Camp I am guessing), you should be able to go into Services and choose which drive to boot from (the icon looks like a hard drive and I think it says "Boot Drive ?"). I don't do much with MAC and am running from memory, but that should be it.

Booting back into MAC is a little cloudy. I'll try to remember.

Aaaahhhhh, I knew there might be an easier way. From the MAC site:

Choose your OS
After you’ve installed Windows using Boot Camp, you can start up your Mac using either operating system. Simply hold down the Option key when you power up and choose one or the other.

If you don't have XP installed using Boot Camp, I am afraid I am not sure what to tell you. I have only worked on a couple of MACs and am really still learning.
