I think if he were alive today, over the last 10 years or so, he would have transitioned in to more serious, older, supporting roles.

Kind of like Bill Murray has done.

Even though most of his movies were campy 80's style comedies, you could see that kind of something in the way he acts that would have let him make that transition, I think.

I think he would have probably done some really good serious movies. It would also be interesting to see how he would have done as a director.

I was hoping that the poll would be which Candy movie was the best.
There is a scence in Bues Brothers that is really disturbing to watch now. At the showcase where the cops are going to arrest them, Belushi tips his hat to Candy, and Candy nods back to him. I mean they didn't know back than that these two would have passed on so suddenly.

John Candy was great. I loved him in Armed and Dangerous as well. That was the movie with Eugene Levy where they were security guards. That movie makes me laugh every time I see it on TV.

The best is the tv/cable version of the Great Outdoors... their bad censoring is hysterical... specifically the scene where everybody's telling everybody to "blow it out their asses"... it turns into "blow it out your kazoo", and you get to hear them say it about 80 times. "Nobody is blowing anything out of anybody's kazoo!!!"
