This is because they are trying to hook people before WoW: Wrath of the Lich King comes out.

If you have a Mac, there is only one game available, and it's called klondike. Enjoy.

Jesus, sounds like somebody's a little scared of WoW completely destroying them.

And they're basically offering to make you UBER upon return? That's a little lame, everyone's gonna have this great shit now so it won't mean anything.

If I was a veteran Everquest player I'd be pissed that these asshole who haven't been played for years are getting nice gear that I had to quest and fight for.

I still play EQ, quite a lot actually. It was annoying that the returning players got this, but not for long. This shit drops pretty regularly from trash mobs, so I got over it fairly quickly. What did piss me off is that they get 10 double XP potions that stack with the Veteran AA IIRC.

I can even get over the free potions. But the kick in the nuts to vet players is that, if the returnees reopen their account before the end of the promo, they get any/all missing expansions for FREE (well, $15 for the monthly fee). That I found a bit fucked up.

Yea, WoW and Everquest sound the same in many respects. My guild and I have been fighting to get bigger and bigger as we gear our players better and better. If all of a sudden Blizzard just handed out crazy gear and loot to returning players I'd be mighty pissed. They didn't work for the shit and I thought that was the point. To accomplish something.

I man I HOPE it brings much needed players back to a game that sounds like it was slowing down, but I'm afraid all it will do is crowd servers with newly geared guys who don't know shit anymore.

I play WoW every night right next to Sarah.

EQ sucks and will only continue to get dominated by WoW.
