Just picked up a pizza from a local pizza joint with my favorite topping of all time... anchovies!!! I hardly ever get them when other people are sharing the pizza with me, but this is my idea of heaven. So much salty, fishy goodness! What does everyone else think about them?

I've always loved 'em. My wife and I almost got divorced because of them in our first year of marriage. After being married for a few months we ordered a pizza. She asked me what I wanted on it and I said anchovies. She goes: "Ewwwww, disgusting!" So, I say "OK then, just get half anchovies." She says she can't because the smell will get on her half of the pizza. Seeing as we were newlyweds, I decided not to rock the boat.
This repeated itself the next couple of times we got pizza till I finally said: "What the fuck! You mean I'll never have another anchovie pizza as long as I live?" So, she relented and let me get a half-anchovie pie. When we got it I shamed her into trying a slice and of course she liked it. Good thing too. She has no idea how close I came to packing my bag.

My chick and I had the same fight a few times. End result was she agreed to let me do what I want with my half of the pizza and I can do whatever with mine, but she has not developed any kind of taste for anchovies. We agree to disagree.

I love them. Especially on a salad. I didn't start eating them until I was in the Navy. Having anchovies on my pizza cut down on the slice moochers.

I love 'em but sometimes they can be too salty.
I'm a big fan of sardines, too.

About 2-3 times a year I crave them and I dont know why. For those who do eat anchovies what is on the pizza besides them...anything?

They can go with just about anything, but they're really good on a Greek pizza.

One strategically placed anchovy can ruin an entire pie. No thanks. More for you.

All of the above plus pickled herring (in brine - not sour cream). No sardines in red sauce either. Love the salty fish. Anchovies? a Caesar salad - yes, A' pizza? I'll just pluck those little bastards off and eat them. They have no business on a pizza imo.

It's been scientifically proven that people who don't like anchovies are unimaginative in bed.

Anchovies are little fish.
You know that, right?

Personally, I dig em'.
I worked at a pizza place all through High School. I think my buddy and I were the only ones in the store that liked them. We used to put them in the folds of peoples hats when they weren't wearing them, or rub them on the earpiece of the phone. If someone we worked with would call and order breadsticks, we'd hollow out the inside, put an anchovey in and reseal them. They are a great pizza topping and prank tool.

could have posted this in the dinner thread but i'm rockin a ceasar salad tonight with WHITE ANCHOVIES! and a perfect ribeye steak. so so good.
I've never had a pizza with anchovies. It's not that I don't think I'd like them, it's just that as the father, I never get what I want as a topping. I think I am going to treat myself with a pizza just for myself and have the anchovies.
I deserve it.

they cost a little more, the main difference is they are packed in vinegar not oil.
