Has anyone downloaded the new Firefox3?
Not many changes other than layout. the only thing i've noticed is that foxytunes works on RF.net now.

Yeah, it's pretty much the same. It just looks more like Safari now.

I just installed it on my PC, I will think about adding it to my Mac.
I honestly have no issue with Safari. As I was downloading it from my pc, I did not see anything regarding Macs

It seems much faster to me. Also, I love the new revamped address bar, which automatically searches for pages in your history. And the new bookmark tagging system is nice, but I'm probably too lazy to use it. Overall, nothing revolutionary, but a step forward. To me, Firefox is all about its extensions.
And yes, it works on OS X - and they've created a new Mac-specific theme that looks much nicer.

I thought typos were part of your character..... Firefox 2 did the same thing as well. Several websites are telling me that the site doesn't support Firefox 3.0, and tell me to upgrade to Firefox 2.0... hmm..

2/3 of my extensions are incompatible with 3.0.
Some of the bigger losses:
BackroundImageSaver
BookmarkDuplicateDetector
CacheViewer
CouponManager
DeskCut
FastVideoDownload
ImageShackRightClick
PlainOldFavorites
I use these constantly, so it's "so far, no good". :(

Is fast video helper similar to the download helper? If so download helper works fine with 3.0

Yeah, I know there are a few choices in that category, but I liked the placement of the one I had. If it's not updated, I guess I'll switch to one of the others.
Incidentally, in case anyone else is going through the same, I found a workaround (might help others) for forcing compatibility of old extensions.

http://forums-test.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=671605&p=3445035
I didn't try Nightly Tester, but I did uninstall ImageShack, download the xpi, open with winrar, updated the rdf, resaved it, and then put the xpi in the extension folder. Voila, I have my ImageShack plugin back. (no bugs so far) :)
I may toy with the others if no updates pop up this week.

i hate the new address bar so much. I liked the old one that kept all your pages up there and you can scroll down and just pick your page.

Here's an extension to put it back to the old way:

The fact that you can do that is why I love Firefox.

I'm digging Firefox 3. The Gecko 1.4 engine is rendering so much better than Firefox 2. I also don't get as much of a memory hog as 2, and I run alot of windows and tabs.
The other new features (and there are alot of them, despite posts above), but most of them I don't really use.

I can't see how anyone doesn't like the new address bar. I was looking for a post on here about Marvel Ultimate Alliance. So I just typed in "Ultimate Fez" and it found it right away.
Also, the revamped download manager is nice - if you downloaded something and don't remember where, just right click, "Open Containing Folder", boom...

Anyone who already had 2.0 already had the threat.
Tipping Point ranked the severity of the vulnerability as high, but said that users would have to click on a link in an e-mail or visit a malicious Web page before being affected. The issue affects users of Firefox 3.0 as well as Firefox 2.0.

I don't like it because I've gotten into the habit of deleting everything not already stored in my address bar out of my history.
Also I had a specific order of websites stored in my address bar and separate bookmarks that for some reason never were worked into the address bar lineup. Now bookmarks are mixed in with the address bar stuff and the whole system is just a mess.
It is a great deal sharper looking, though.

Yeah, it's just messy. I downloaded the "Old bar" add-on, and it still does the same thing. When I click the pull-down box, it shows my bookmarks. One of the things I liked about Firefox 2.0 was how you could delete URLs from the address bar. Now anyone who looks at my computer will know what all horrendous porn sites I check out.

Tools...Options...Privacy...check "always clear my private data when I close firefox"...then click Settings and check which data you want deleted (like browsing history for example)

highlight site when it appears in the list under your address bar, shift-delete and it's gone. Same with Firefox 2.0

To make the Awesomebar to go back to the old style of filling stuff in go to your about:config (type that in on the address bar) and change the parameter of browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped to true and you will be fine.

My only complaint is my address bar. When I click the dropdown, the history is HUGE, goes about 3/4 of the way down the page. And the history is out of order. It shows every site I went to, not just the ones I typed in.
I tried what LordJezo suggested but nothing seemed to change. Other than that, its great.

Is anyone else experiencing trouble with clicking on stuff since they loaded 3? I loaded it last night, and sometimes when I click (for instance) "New Posts", nothing happens the first time. I have to click it again. I haven't noticed if it's happening on other sites, but it's also a problem when I click things in my start menu or quick launch bar.

I've had that problem with both FF2 and FF3.
With ff2 I had the problem with clicking my gmail notifier in the start menu, but that's all. Now, with ff3, it's with other stuff, and the gmail notifier is really bad. I sometimes have to double click it 3 or 4 times.

you used to be able to open a closed tab by hitting f12. now it's a 3-key combo. why would they do that?
i recommend blueorganizer and piclens. it's a silly add-on, but i love fuzzy time.

I figured out the clicking problem, I think. It's when I press the mouse wheel to move to the top of the page faster. Before I installed ff3, I could just click on the link when I got to the top of the page. Now, I have to click once to deactivate the mouse wheel, before I click the link.

I'm fine. :/
One feature this little update added was Tab Tab Browsing. If you have multiple tabs open, and you want to switch between them, hold down the Ctrl button and tap Tab, and it will cycle through all open tabs.
I am VERY happy they added this, as I am always using Alt+Tab to cycle through windows.

Really? Interesting. I read a press release stating that 3.0.1 added it. I always used CTRL+1, 2, 3 etc. Interesting.

Ok, real dumb question. I have the oldbar add-on.
My url history when I click the dropdown shows 13 sites that are pretty random. I like to have a number of sites in my history that I want to visit everyday. Anyone know how to fix that?
On the old Firefox, when I would type in a url in my address bar, it would automatically appear in my history. Only if i typed it in, not every site i visited by clicking links. Any input for my dumb ass would be ahsome...

yeah, i added the fix for that and it seems a more recent update has cancelled it out again. ugh.

I've done the trick that makes sure that nothing ever appears in the "Awesome Bar" and instead all of the sites that were in the address bar before they messed with it are in a bookmark list separate from my normal bookmarks.
Yes, I am insane.
