That game was surprisingly chippy for two teams that don't really play each other a lot...Tootoo busted Bradley wide open with the CoCo Butt and he leaked all over the place

That is going to be like 150 minutes in penalties next season if the GM's get there way. His face took the first two punches pretty well, it was that third one.

Its amazing to me how many people are saying they've never seen Brashear get rocked like that before....Belak's the new heavyweight champ, IMO. I wish Nashville would play NYR so he and Orr could go.
Who are the current Champs? My list:
Super Heavyweight: Boogaard
Heavyweight: Belak
Light Heavyweight: Carcillo

Bradley getting his nose busted by Tootoo's head butt isn't going to help matters much either...it took them 5-10 minutes to clean up all the blood from the ice

you missed lucic, at 20 yrs old he alreaduy hands out asswhoopins like nobody's business. let him get a few seasons under his belt. he put a hurting on former bruin nick boynton earlier this year. and he can score goals. i don't know that i would call him the next neely like some do, but he's making a name for himself as one of, if not the, best hitters in the league.

I think he's still a little too young...remember, he got his nose popped by Erskine last year, and he always seems to take on smaller guys. I still think Belak or Orr would kick his ass.

lucic would rock orr.. i saw orr fight when he was a bruin (prov and boston) and it was nothing special.
and the smaller guys thing, he fights anyone that wants to step to him (with the exception of laraque that time, because lucic is a smart fighter, and his beef was with komisarek, not georges) , and he's a big guy so naturally they would be smaller. thats like saying chara only fights smaller guys, hard to do when a large percentage of players are smaller than him. lucic ROCKED jared boll last season in a good fight. but its not like he only fights smaller guys, he's a legit heavyweight. the only time you see him not fight is if the game is on the line, he won't take five to fight an orr, or brashear (just an example) if they need him on the ice.
he's been beat before, and like you say, erskine broke his nose, but that doesn't mean a whole lot in reality. its not like he dominated that fight, they both landed some solid shots and erskine popped him good. one of the few i would say luc didn't win. and with a nose that big i'm surprised it doesn't get broken more often. can't win them all, just ask brashear.
i'd like to see him fight neil tonight.

This is an extremely valuable lesson that Orr is finally starting to learn and he's been in the league long enough that he should know it by now. Someone who didn't know this and cost the Rangers dearly was Ryan Hollweg. He ended up taking a penalty, and a fucking stupid one for just being a goon, and cost us dearly. I was glad to see him take his wanna-be-ironic mustache and hit the fuckin' bricks.

mike komisarek 6'4 243
nick boynton - 6'2 220
brendan witt - 6'2 223
eric boulton - 6'1 225
bj crombeen - 6'2 212
tim wallace - 6'1 207
mike brown 6'4 225
going by weight, he seems to take on bigger guys....

I'm on the fence about my Isles winning lately. They will fuck up the chances of landing Tavares or Hedman but at the same time, its who your draft and not when you draft. Id be fine if we got the 3rd pick and landed Matt Duchene. Hes not that much of a drop off from Tavares.

I'm not saying Brodeur isn't a great goalie or anything but if i had to win like a game 7 of let's say the 2001stanley cup, i'd pick Roy. They are both great goalies.
I'm not saying Brodeur is a bad goalie. His numbers are impressive. I just don't like the guy and I think he's arrogant and plays up any motion he does to make it seem like more than it really was and I think he takes dives to try and get calls (and they're obvious).
Would I dislike him less if he were on another team? I dunno.

He was/is, but was somehow more endearing to me, maybe because he's not a Devil that I can stomach him more. I think the arrogance is more related to their French-Canadian-ness than anything. My family is part-FC so I'm entitled to say that (but its totally obvious anyway).

I'm French Canadian and I can somewhat agree a little bit with the arrogance, might be more like snobby-ish I would say...but we are very hard on our players because all we have left are the Habs! We also didn't like Patrick Roy going to Colorado, that was just a slap in the face!!
denko
03-14-2009, 05:41 AM
i think they are both phenominal goaltenders, but if you go back and look at the stats, teams were scoring a LOT more goals back then (in roy's early years). teams were finishing with as amny as 400 GF and averaged high 200's to mid 300's. scoring has been on a steady decline through the league the last 20 years, and with the increasing pads sizes throughout the years (so much so they had to make rule changes) the career GAA thing is a tough argument. and
for example, the WORST team in the east in the 88-89 season had 271 GF, compared to the BEST team in the east in 07-08 had 262.
so with that said, martins career 2.20- GAA compared to roy's 2.54 in reality isn't that much better, when you take into account that scoring was around 30% higher (league wide) when roy came in.
i saw a lot of patrick roy when i was a kid and to me he's the best, and i said it before... 151 post season wins with 23 SO and a 2.30 GAA in 247 games.... those are the most impressive stats in my eyes, because that where it counts. just ask tom brady...
denko
03-14-2009, 06:04 AM
in the interest of fairness, i try to be fair, i, upon further review, have come to find martin's post season stats to me even more impressive.
95 W 22 SO and a 1.96 GAA in 169 games.
roy is still better IMO
ihaveabadmonkey
03-14-2009, 06:33 AM
I think once we get a little further into the future and they are both retired for awhile, Brodeur will be regarded as the best ever. I know they played the trap for years but its still got to be hard to stay focused and sharp when you get 15 shots on you a game.
denko
03-14-2009, 10:19 AM
you also have to remember that roy didn't play in the time of the shootout. games ended in ties. so by my count martin has 26 wins from shootout games that would have been ties..... just saying

Maybe they haven't been filling the arena in Detroit because the economy's bad there? They don't seem to have a problem filling the arenas in DC and Pittsburgh where they play "boring" hockey?
That's really great that you call out so called "european cunts" for their style of play. Damn those guys like Derek Boogaard (just suspended 5 games for an elbow to the head), Denis Gauthier (suspended multiple times this year), Steve Ott, Sean Avery, Marty McSorley and Dale Hunter.
Wait...those guys aren't European?
This guy's got to be European too right?

No wait!! He's Canadian??? You don't say!
This crap about "playing the game the right way" aka "the canadian way", HAS to stop. When things like that get said, its no different than those goofs who hate ARod because he's not a "true yankee".
Guess what? There are dirty Europeans....but there are dirty Canadians too, and there always have been, and saying a guy plays dirty simply because he's European is goddamn retarded.
Personally, I feel the game has never been better. The game has opened up tremendously under the new rules, and the guys can skate and shoot and get free without being hooked and held to death, and its more exciting than it ever has been, and that includes the 80s, which everyone holds up as this "golden age" of the game.
So I just got back from Vegas late this week and have a lot of catching up to do.
First off, I never said there weren't dickbags from the US and Canada, in fact, the likes of the US Olympic crew that trashed there room in Japan are tops amongst my hate in the NHL to this day. However, if you're about to say the Euro's (outside of the Fins) play the same man up game as the Americans and Canadians you're the goddamn retarded one here. Stop cherrypicking the facts in an effort to dilute an obvious overiding theme.
All the violent acts you submit as a counterpoint aren't the same as the dirty slash and run technique I brought to the argument. Sorry Mudo, nice try.
What you call "opened up", I call boring open or pond hockey. It's one dimensional, hitting is just about gone, with fighting even further along.
Oh and guess what, ARod is a true yankee, he was purchased just like the bulk of them. Perspective is a great ally, try to use some.
About the economy excuse in Detroit, funny how it didn't effect the Pistons or Tigers. The NHL is down in Detroit on a level of the WINLESS Lions in the NFL. Only problem is that the Wings are the defending Stanley Cup Champs, in first place in the division, conference and tied for the NHL's best record currently. So yes, great point again mudo. Perhaps the debate team is in your future.

What a couple of cunts!
Yes, and look into the fact that half of them he leaves his feet (never called) and he's on pace to set a record for hits from behind in a season shows just how he likes to play the game. I hope the old bastard is right and someone gives him some love very soon. He'll surely get his in the playoffs. Then he'll surely be "red" jesus.

I'm not familiar with Morris - why the hell would the Rangers give up a promising player in Dawes, and 2 younger guys for someone who is over 30 and isn't a productive scorer? I know Prucha's been in the dog house... but it doesn't make a lot of sense, unless it's a salary dump.
All in all, Morris is a pretty talented skater who can make a good to very good outlet pass to break a team out. His d positioning is very good, but his physical play is average at best. He's a second pairing D man or 1B at best. He had some very solid offensive years with the Avs in the past, yet never got back to that level since.
If anything, I hear he's a got killer deflection abilities.

3 way deal with EDM and LA...LA gets Justin Williams, EDM gets O'Sullivan, and CAR gets Cole.
Dumb move by Carolina....O'Sullivan is money, and he's a local guy from Winston-Salem
I think Edmonton is trying to set a world record for number of guys name Ales on one team...they picked up Kotalik from Buffalo to go along with Hemsky
Kolzig can't play, he's out for the year with an injury. That deal is a straight salary dump/expiring contract deal with Tampa (along with Heward, who is concussed at the moment, and like Kolzig, will never play for the Leafs)
Toskala's out for the year, so I assume theyre going to use a combo of Gerber and Joseph down the stretch (not like it matters). They were going to get Gerber in order to flip him around quickly, but they couldn't get it done. Pogge's the future there, but they want him playing important games for the Marlies right now, because it matters more there now than it does with the big club
Yah, I just don't get how undervalued O'Sullivan is right now. I understand he has some personality issues, but nothing like they dealt with when Avery was around. I guess they just wanted to give another good player away to the Oil. The kid is young, can play Center or Wing, and surely losing this kid plus a 2nd for the oft-injured Williams is a head scratcher. Then to think he was moved again with a 2nd for Cole simply cracks me up. Edmonton is the big winner here EASY!
spoon
03-14-2009, 04:17 PM
Like the O' Sullivan deal, not crazy about Kotalik though. Kotalik had a good year after the lockout but he's been downhill ever since.
I have to agree with you on that. In reality, if you guys were closer it wouldn't be such a bad move. Yet tie in the fact how deep this draft is and a 2nd could very well be a much better player. I'm not huge on the move either, but how many 2nds do you have? If you have a stock pile of picks it makes more sense. Even so, the player isn't that bad for a 2nd for a team in the hunt's outside edge.

I was confounded as to why the Canes would turn around and flip O'Sullivan for Cole, but it turns out that its not really a good idea for him to play in Carolina

You know, for a guy whose "career was over", NBC seems to get a lot of mileage of promoting Sean Avery. It's been an Avery lovefest on NBC today.
That being said, Howard Stern is wrong. Lesbians do not equal ratings. Assholes = Ratings.

Especially Bos being real good and NY fighting for a playoff spot.
Both games were worthy of the slot, but seeing as that the exact same game was on only two weeks prior I agree with the move.

It has nothing to do with "wanting everyone to see that I have Ovi on my club". I watched the game locally anyway. What it has to do with is putting the last two Hart Trophy winners (and probably the next one, Malkin) on national TV on the only day of the week its on National TV, plain and simple.
Who's more exciting than Ovechkin, Malkin and Crosby? Get back to me when you find out.
Yes, I give a fuck about "growing the game" because I LOVE HOCKEY. I want to see it do well and expand and grow, because it makes it more popular, and gets it out of being a niche sport.
The league DOESN'T market the heck out of Ovechkin and Crosby? You're joking right? I have Nigerian Security guards at work asking me every day about Ovechkin and Crosby, and they've never even SEEN a hockey game, they've just seen that crazy goal he's scored against the Habs, or the one against Phoenix a few years ago. Its something called "marketing".
So let me get this straight, a couple of Nigerian security guards saw a highlight or two of Ovechkin and Crosby and NEVER even seen a game and it's called marketing. RIGHT!?

There's an obvious paralell here with the NBA, which was DYING in the late 70s for a number of reasons. They saved the league because of Magic, Bird, and Jordan, aggressively marketing them, and putting them on TV so people who didn't really like/follow basketball could see them.
Umm, Sid and Alex are NOT Bird Magic or Jordan. The last hockey player who can be mentioned like Michael Jordan is Gretzky. Seriously, Alex is good, but he isnt better then anyone who ever played before him. Not by a fuckin long shot

And the wings are a pussy eurotrash team that can't fight or hit. So yah, both teams aren't holding up their end (even if the Avs are dominating the series in their awful state).

i have to agree with mudo here, as far as the "star" factor and what would be a bigger draw. how many NON-hockey fans or "casual" viewers can name even one ranger? or a fucking bruin for that matter? like it or not those are the new gretzkys and lemieuxs and yzermans.
i watch every bruins game because i am local, but as far as games going on that day, as a hockey fan, i would have rather seen the pens - caps game on NBC. if for no other reason the story lines between malkin - ovechkin and crosby - ovechkin and the fact the stanley cup finalists from a year ago are clinging to a playoff spot. not to mention the fact that one game had the top three scorers in the league, 4 of the top 11 and the top scoring defensman.
seeing as the B's are not in the same division as either of those teams i don't get to see them all that often.
and i don't think mudo's argument was the caps and pens should be on as much as possible, so much as why a bruins - rangers game takes priority. it would be like fox airing a rays - blue jays game while the yankees and sox were playing.
Ok wait a minute here. First off, there's a reason 4 of the top 11 scoring D men were in that game, bc both teams don't play defense!!! That's why I hate watching their games, bc it's not the full game. Their D and goalie play sucks.
Next, it's called overkill. Even NYY and Boston fans have stated the rivalry has been diluted. Over and over, time and time again throughout every year we hear the push for the matchup on ESPN, and other teams, you know the league has other teams and the league is the product, suffer.
Sorry, wrong denko. I'll give you credit for being the first to go against your team's side of this argument, but I'd rather see more of the league in the national slot versus the Pens/Caps network! Save that for the local affiliate, and market them outside of the hockey airing slots on a weekly basis.

I think once we get a little further into the future and they are both retired for awhile, Brodeur will be regarded as the best ever. I know they played the trap for years but its still got to be hard to stay focused and sharp when you get 15 shots on you a game.
Here's a cool look at the last 20 years for goaltending in a fantasy sense. There are a lot of cool points here, but it also shows how hard it is to compare even between guys playing within that short window.

The statistics would say otherwise. Let's take away the 22 wins that came via shootout for Brodeur. He will still be ahead of Roy's number of wins when his career is finished.
You brought up the amount of games Brodeur plays in a single season. Yeah, he played a lot of games. Most people in the game think that the fact Marty can play so many games is the one of the most amazing things about him.
And I have gained such respect for Roy during this whole time. A gracious, amazing goalie.

Funny how memory only allows one to remember the score versus all the injuries that those dirty Russian cunts caused bc they had lost in back to back series in 2000 (4-1) and 1999 (4-2). I can't seem to remember something myself...who won the Cup in that missing year of 2001? One of my fond memories is when the young upstart, and huge underdog Avalanche knocked off the extremely outplayed Red Wings in 1996 on the way to their first Cup in their first year of existence in Colorado.
A close second was watching Roy simply destroy Chris Osgood, or when Chris Draper forgot how to take a simple check and had his mouth rearranged. Good times.

Not when buffalo goes into the second against Ottawa with a 2-0 lead, then gets on a run of 9 straight penalties over the second and third periods, allows Ottawa over the course of that run to tie it up in the second, then tubgirls itself in the third on its way to a 4-2 loss. The funny thing is, they both believe it. And mind you, I'm not even close to claiming a #1 of all-time ever, in any sport due to generations and league dynamics in each. Yet here we are, as a magic line of a stat is crossed (as artificial it is with the tie gone and countless other factors), all nj fans claim victory. Sorry, that's just stupid/sad. There are so many names you don't even know how to say that should be in your gay equation. And Game, who you pulling for in the NCAA this year. What's that Kansas last year, this year to be determined? Ah, I get it.

The Avs are going to screw this draft thing up. I can just see it now. They are going to go on a mini streak and mess up a top-2 draft slot. I just hope that they get a goalie in free agency this summer.

I really like Ovechkin, but that was bush league. If he absolutely couldn't stop himself from doing a premeditated celebration, do it front of the Cap's bench, not behind the opposing team's net in their own house.
I think it might be time to start rooting for the Panthers. (warning, this video clip might be considered NSFW)

I'm going to pose a few thoughts.... Keep in mind these are void of sleep, going on close to 24 hours, and now alcohol soaked as my second job is tending bar. I digress...
Maybe thoughts were a poor choice of words... Questions, rather:
* Should the Pens somehow win out (they will not) or even lose 2 of the next ten, is Dan Bylsma coach of the year? I don't even know if he's even a possible candidate or if hockey gives a shit about that award, but come on. He's fucking 12-1-3. Nothing further on that front.
* No one is discussing the MVP? It's obviously Malkin and Ovechkin vying for supremacy. Malkin looks poised to take it. I'm just sayin’....
* Now I get a little bold and let the whiskey take over.. First let me say that I can by no means understand the animal and passion that is Canadian hockey and their fans. But, I defy you to find better fans in the states. It's even beginning to resemble the phenomenon that is Pittsburgh Steeler fandom (I'm writing the book, shameless I know). What I mean is that the fans are there in nearly every road game. Again, I know this is not necessarily unique, but there is certainly no denying the travelling, and probably even more overwhelming, embedded legion that descend upon these arenas all over. I know people from around here that easily got tickets to the Finals in Detroit last year; even scalped some. That is literally not fathomable here.
Finally I'll say this: What team wants Pittsburgh in the first round? I really fucking hope it ends up being Philly or Washington... But, that's neither here nor there, I like our chances against anyone.
Time to rest.
Rip that shit apart, I'm not even re reading that drivel..

No, it didn't. He only has to sit back and pile up wins bc of a great offense. Just as your fate was last year, so it will happen again. When the things tighten up you have to fall back on a whiny player who could be so much better and a highly overrated goaltender. With the O talent of Malkin it's a shame too. Still, outside of Orpik your d is a group of O minded pussies.
As far as opinions go, I'm not the one who can only talk about their favorite teams. I think my thoughts are some of the few in this fucking thread that are unbiased my friend. I have nothing to lose hating on Pitt. I just see it as it is. Your Pitt's version right now of Mudo ... or NJ/FLA's version of game.

Look don, it's one thing to love your team and another to annoint them the Cup bc of it.
Do I think it'd be a crazy thought that they win a Cup with a lesser goalie due to all that offense? Not at all ... see Edmonton Oilers and Grant Fuhr. Tie in the fact that Crosby gets calls like Jordan in his prime and you've got yourself a lot of possibility.
However, I'll call it right now. If in fact you do win the Cup, your D/Goalie won't be why. If it happens be ready for some crazy offensive games. This doesn't mean the score has to be very high, just that his O in front will control games and he won't have to be the answer.

I think Malkin's the MVP
What hurts Ovechkin's case IMO, is that he's not even the most valuable Capital, its Mike Green
When you look at something like Value Over Replacement Player, I figure you'd need two or three "average" forward to replace what Ovechkin gives you offensively, while conversely, you'd need 5-6 "average" defencemen to replace what Green's put up from the back line this year offensively.
Its MUCH more valuable to have a defenceman that scores 30 goals than it is to have a forward that scores 50.
Malkin's carried Pittsburgh all year...no question. I think the late season push that they're having is going to carry him over the top for that award, much like it did for Ovechkin last year, and good for him...Malkin deserves it.

Congrats Mr. Bobby Fallon, sir. I wish I could have only said the same for my Rangers. They just lost to Ottawa. It was sad.
In other hockey related news: I get to meet Avery, Callahan and Girardi tomorrow and I'm excited. Tuesday I am taking my mom to her first NHL game ever (Rangers vs. Wild) and they're going to give away free key chains (WOOOOO FOR FREE STUFFS!) My mom is so awesome and when she knows Reg and I are at a game she always watches and tries to talk to us about it. I think hockey's rules might be lost on her, but she's genuinely starting to enjoy watching the game. To have something I love so much and might now be able to start sharing with her is exciting since my Grandpa was the only other Rangers/hockey fan in my family.

Yup. I'm not sure quite where to display the box of Summer's Eve that they're giving out at the signing, admittedly a weird item, but it's autographed so I feel obligated to display somewhere. Seriously though, I"m thinking of buying a copy of Vogue for him to sign, I'm wondering if they'll let me use it.
Douche or no douche, he's been one of several kicks in the ass that the Rangers have needed for a while, so I'm not gonna complain about it. He hasn't been the distraction I thought he was gonna be (yet) and we didn't acquire him by getting rid of one of my favorite players, so I'll let him have a chance.

very nice
but her titties look unusually small
Avery, Girardi & Callahan were all really excellent. Callahan and Avery were both very small, I feel like they're lying about their roster heights. Girardi was funny inasmuch as someone put a picture down in front of him to sign he goes, "God, why do I always look so angry?!" and then laughed about it.
Avery was surprisingly very gracious and friendly. I expected him to be a douche as he is on the ice and I had heard he was pretty fake and still kind of a dick off the ice, but if he was fake he was very good at it. He was chatting with all the fans and genuinely seemed to be enjoying himself, as were Callahan and Girardi. It was nice to see.
Dan Girardi lookin' like a robot.

I hate when that happens. I think the schedule this year was much better than last year, but it still needs tweaking. The rest of this season for the Rangers, barring this game vs ATL is friggin' hard. All teams with a playoff spot or still very much in the hunt. I know they didn't know who'd be in the playoffs when they made the schedule, but there are some perennial faves in there who ended, as always, playing well.

HA!
My mom was pumped to not only see 1 fight, but two (it was, after all, all she really wanted to see at the game). Her face was a mixture of horror that they were really punching and then she got into it when Avery (and later Orr) were doing well. She was shocked to find out it was Avery 'cause she'd seen my pictures and thought he was (and I quote) "too pretty to fight".
She's so oblivious to the whole goings on of the NHL that she didn't know who Avery was other than a guy she recognized the name of, but didn't know why. I avoided having the whole Dallas convo with her because it is embarrassing to have to say (and then possibly explain) "sloppy seconds" to your own mother.

Ooops!

You can have Tavares. Barring a Vinny trade we have enough top-flight centers. The Bolts must have Hedman, though. I won't accept any other outcome.

We shall see. I have faith in my Bolts suckosity, as long as they stop getting stupid OTL points.
At this point I am starting to be more convinced by the day that the Rangers don't want to make the playoffs. Maybe they're feeling bad for the Isles and want to keep them company.
Either way, they're sucking it up lately. "They are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked, I mean, they REALLY sucked...Gotta go, my damn wiener kids are listening."

As you can see the Coyotes have been great of late and have moved up quite a few spots since the sell off of Morris and others.
Next, the Thrashers have actually been playing some REALLY good hockey of late. Still, Kari Lehtonen going down and Dan Turple, yes THAT Dan Turple, coming in can't bode well for the Thrash. Good news is they have 4 points in hand on my Avs and only 7 games remaining.
Now we lool at almost a dead heat between Rboy's Ning and my Avs. The Avs are in second right now by only 1 point, but have been AWFUL!! Going 3-6-1 is a good way to move up (down) in the rankings to line up a better shot at the #1 and or #2 pick needed to land 1 or 1A. I have faith in both terrible goalies, along with the likes of 50 call-ups making this team a shitty AHL member currently. Stay home Joe, come back in 2010 to work with Tavares or Hedman and hand the torch (barely lit right now).
The NING have some issues clearly right now as well, especially for a Cup pick by some earlier in the year. Stamkos is hurting your bid for a top pick right now coming out of his frosh slump, but Vinny is sucking plenty to pick up the slack (rumors of shoulder and wrist injuries). If Ramo continues to play decent, or Mike Smith comes back I say this team will end up picking around 4/5. I love how recently acquired Lashoff has fit on their PP adding yet ANOTHER first round pick to this stable in Tampa. Let's not waste another big name in the land of sweat and shitty ice.
Finally, the true contender, the Islanders! Seriously hurting their chances of late has been their rugged play, hurting many opposing players in their wake. Sometimes I truly feel good playoff teams just want to get out of games against the Isle healthy and all but hand the game to them. With the likes of Joey Mac and others coming back from injury, the Avs could truly make this a race for the best percentage slot for the #1. The Avs are 6pts back (ahead) of the last spot, but have a game in hand (played one more). Factoring in the fact that if they indeed do lock up the #1, Tavares claims he WON'T play for them. That being the case, the number #2 spot may end up being all you need for Tavares. That also doesn't bode well for Rboy's chances of the Ning landing Hedman.
If at any point you'd like to let me have my coach back, please let me know.
No, sir, I've kinda taken a shine to him.

With the Avs remaining schedule, I can see them winning 2 out of the 7 games. I hope they lose all 7, get Granato fired and both goalies take a hike.

maybe they're sandbagging to finish 8th to play boston... i can't inagine too many teams want to face NJ in the first round. i don't know the exact stats but i willing to bet they have fared better against BOS on the season than they have WAS or NJ...
Carolina is hot. I'm just wondering if the streak came too soon or if it'll carry into the playoffs.
San Jose did not wilt like I thought they would.
The Wings situation in goal has me concerned.
Will Brodeur's injury a few months ago prove to be a blessing in disguise so he'll be less burned out come playoff time?
That's all for now.

san jose managed to come back and are looking good for the presidents trophy (team with bets record). they hit a rough patch but it didn't slow them down much.

With the playoffs coming up, I'm once again looking for good NYC hockey bars. My dream is there is some place with majority of screens on hockey. I just want to a place that has more than one screen tuned in to playoffs even if there isn't a NYC team involved. Ideally, I'd like to find a place in Brooklyn. Hell, we have Irish, English, German themed bars. Is there a Canadian bar somewhere in the boroughs?

Hubby and I were actually talking about this earlier: we are weird against Jersey in the playoffs, we win some, we lose some. We've been taken out by them on one too many occasions for my liking. I'm too lazy to pull stats on it.
We never fare that well against Tim Thomas and he's done quite nicely for himself this year.
Of all the teams we could see us having a shot against or at least not bugging out at having to go against it would be the Caps. I know we'll likely have to cross the other two teams if we make it past the Caps, but lets not put the cart before the horse.
Besides, Mudo's less likely to shit talk me than Brett is, so, bring on Ovie. :bye:

Dude, as a Rangers fan I am IMMENSELY proud of Avery. It was a game last night where even the tiniest momentum shift could have cost Henk his shut out and us the game. I am glad to see he finally learned to reign it in. I thought Orr might have started trouble, too, but it looks like Torts has the boys on a tight leash. Truly, I'm glad for it. We've lost too much due to our "scrappy" players taking stupid penalties at key points in games thereby costing us momentum and, in turn, said games (Hollweg).
I love a good Avery fight as much as the next guy, but smart Aves may have eked out scrappy for me, at least last night.
And what about Petr Prucha with an OT goal and two assists for the coyotes last night?!? I love Pruchs (fuck the Coyotes), just more bolstering of my now moot argument that Renney should've played Pruchs more.
Also, did anyone watching Rangers v Devils on VS hear Beezer say he wishes they would turn the trapezoid behind the goal upside down (i.e. widest part at the goal line, narrowest at the boards?!?) Doc was like, "uhhhh".
It was just special on a lot of stupid, stupid levels.

C'mon, Gwen. That is faggy pussy vagina hockey. You can't run all over the ice ticking people off all night then stand there like a homo with your hands down as you get tossed around the rink like a rag doll. Grow a set and behave like a man! If you are gonna run your mouth all game and generally behave like an asshole, at least have enough respect for yourself not to act like a bitch when push comes to shove. It is an embarrasment to the game and nothing to be proud of.:thumbdown::thumbdown:
