Damn you are fast. It cut off the Indians game to see it, but it was cool to see!

I had a feeling it was coming.

I actually had the thread typed up during the at bat.

Was your finger poised over the "Enter" key during the at bat?

For some reason, if I had to write down guys I thought were LOCKS to be clean, Griffey is number 1. THERE IS ZERO doubt in my mind that he is clean and did it right, and any piece of info that ever came out only pointed to that.

Glad to hear it. I'm a Mariners fan and have great memories of when he was with us.

The guy who wrote one of the Bonds books (might have been 'Game of Shadows,' but I'm not sure) went to the University of Delaware, and guest lectured one of my journalism classes a couple years ago.

He kept talking about the infamous dinner between Bonds and Griffey before the 1999 season where Bonds was talking about how he was jealous that guys like McGwire and Sosa were getting so much fame when they were obviously juiced and that he was "ready to just go ahead and take some seriously hardcore stuff."

That was the season Bonds came back like 30 pounds heavier.

Anyway, he wrote about the conversation after talking to Griffey (I think Griffey has since denied he talked about it) and Griffey had no response to Bonds and was very uncomfortable about the whole thing.

There's never been a doubt in my mind he was clean.

Actually it was 'Love Me, Hate Me'....not 'Game of Shadows'

i actually thought about going to the game tonight just to sit in right field and see if i could snag the ball, im pissed i was lazy and didnt go. it would have been so cool to say i saw A-Rod hit 500 and Griff hit 600 in person. nonetheless i saw it happen live while i was on the treadmill and like everybody else in here i could not be happier for him. if theres one wish i could have for an MLB player it would have been for Griffey to have been healthy his entire career. he's truly a special kind of player.

Best HR swing I've ever seen.

Like I said when Manny hit #500, Junior should be clobbering #700 today.

I agree with Mojo, Griffey has the best swing in Baseball, plus he isn't a prick

Well Done Griffey

Congratulations! What an amazing milestone.
I think it's sad these days that when someone hits a milestone like this,
we have to second guess his efforts. C'est la vie.

Well done Junior, and congratulations!!!!

Best HR swing I've ever seen.

Like I said when Manny hit #500, Junior should be clobbering #700 today.

for 4 years from 2001 to 2004 hemissed a lot of time

2001 ....111 games .... 22 hr's
2002.......70 games ......8 hr's
2003.......53 games .....13 hr's
2004.......83 games .....20 hr's

his 162 game avg according to baseball reference (http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/griffke02.shtml) is 40 homers
so that would give him

18 more in 01
32 more in 02
27 more in 03
20 more in 04

for a total of 97 more homers, putting him close to the 700 you had suggested he'd be at

what a shame he got injured so much

I went Sunday and sat in 90 degree heat out in right field and he hits it the day after. The hump. Just joking.

LETS GO REDLEGS!

It is amazing how little we (in A.L. Cities) hear about Griffey since he was traded to the Reds. It is almost like dropped of the face of the earth.

If he had done this in NY, LA, Chicago or Boston the hype would have been over the top.

Just in case you are reading this thread Mr Griffey, congratulations.

Been a Reds fan since I was a kid, always going up to Riverfront
and Great American ballpark. Griffey is a class act and the 600 was well
deserved. Too bad he's had so many injuries throughout his
career , if not, Barry Bonds would have been chasing him.

I am really, really glad Griffey achieved this milestone in a Reds uniform. I'm pretty sure they'll be looking to deal him at the trade deadline, and I just wish he didn't have the slew of injuries he suffered since coming over from Seattle and was never able to fully recognize his potential.

He's always been a class act and one of the most naturally talented players I've ever seen.

Due to the absence of a single complaint, this is an unacceptabe Gvac post.
