I have never watched a college baseball game and don't plan on it

I was at the game last night, and christ it was long.

Always fun to go to watch the U (my alumni) and there were some flat out bombs

Yonder Alonso is just a flat out monster.

Stood on line after the game to get seats for tonight, and hopefully I'll actually be able to take some pictures

Next year Oregon finally gets baseball up and running. I'll pay attention then.

Eventually they will phase out wood bats, but right now there are way to many sponsorships involved to get rid of them.

But the atmosphere is always really fun at Miami, the fans are really into the games

And the team is just flat out ridiculous, eight guys drafted including three in the first round

why do they use aluminum bats in college anyway?

I heard a few reasons when i was at school. Its a hell of a lot cheaper to buy 25 Aluminum bats a year and maybe lose 1 or 2 than 200 plus woods because they will break. Also the ball does come off quicker but it stings less if you are hit by a batted ball. I also believe that college wants people to watch and aluminums allow better contact and more chance for run production.

Towelie, U M is my school too. I was going to school there when Pat Burell was on the team. We used to see A Rod at games, before he was A Rod. You would also see Bob Greise at a couple of games. It was always a great way to spend a Friday night or Saturday afternoon sitting on the right feild bleachers.
One day I'll go to Omaha and see them in the CWS.

Man UC-Irvine really blew it. Can't believe LSU.

Arizona State, what a disappointment. Pat Murphy is a dope. Starting a kid on 2 days rest after he threw 120 pitches

A couple of Canes fans, ehh?

FSU alumni checking in here. The real FSU...not Fresneck. All the Noles fans are just waiting on the collapse. But we were expecting it during the regional or super regional...so I feel good about the CWS. Great to be back after 9 years in the desert.

FSU Baseball fans are awesome.

What other school sings "O Canada" in the middle of the their games for really no good reason

The Animals sure are crazy

I'd still say the series would be a sweep

Rough start for FSU

Can't win many games when you give up 11 runs in the top of the 9th

Good lord what a disaster that inning was for Rice

Well, that was a short visit for FSU.

Good luck to UNC and Miami in their elimination games. It would be nice to see an ACC team win it, even if it was Miami.

I'm hoping that tonight's game is a lot closer because I wanna see that UGA closer.

That hippe's got some good stuff.

There's no way colleges will ever go away from aluminum bats because it would make the disparity between programs that much bigger.

Per a previous post wood bats would break too often and would cost way too much for each program.

LSU, Miami, Texas an all of those schools could buy a million wooden bats but do you think smaller schools could do that ?

Not a chance.

They did a lot to limit the effects of the old aluminum bats ( late 90's era ) and run production was actually down for a while but I believe there was a stat at the start of the CWS, or maybe towards the end of the Super Regionals, that showed the runs back up for this year.

Parity is tough in college baseball because pitching is key and great pitchers are usually going to bigger programs. The thing that does help the smaller schools is the limited number of scholarships but it's still a big divide.

This final is interesting in that it's between an unseeded team ( Fresno St ) and the lowest ranked National seed ( UGA ).

Again the ACC shows it can't win big by having 3 of the 8 teams and none in the finals.

Actually I think the SEC had 4 teams in back in maybe 1998 or 1999 and they didn't win either so it's not a guarantee.

that game was completely unexpected tonight, detwiler single-handedly wins it for fresno and georgia struggles to score a single run? wow.

lowest seed to ever win a college championship in any sport i believe they said. good stuff.
