White Russians for my everyday drinking needs.

If it's an early morning tailgate/outdoor event, Screwdrivers and Blue Moon (w/ a slice of orange)
If it's a spring or summer tailgate/outdoor event, a nice microbrew ale (i.e. Dogfish 90 minute IPA) or seasonal (i.e. Sam Adams Summer Ale) and/or some rum & cokes.
If it's a chilly/fall tailgate/outdoor event, a good stout (Guinness, Lancaster Brewing Co. Milk Stout).

If it's fucking freezing, vodka or whiskey out of a flask.

Vodka tonics or captain and ginger ale (or coke, if I want the caffeine).

Summer outings, I usually make a rum punch or vodka punch.

Most of the time it is Bud Light.

Otherwise, Jack and Ginger or Capt and Ginger.

During the winter, I like a Harpoon Winter Warmer once in a while.

I'd take a LaBatts Blue over a Molson Canadian as the better beer from our neighbors to the north any day.

Of course, an Alexander Keith IPA trumps all.

For breakfast drinking, I tend to go with a Bloody Mary - I generally prefer savory to sweet (but not always).

My beer of choice really depends on my mood and the season. I don't think there is a type of beer that I don't enjoy (as long as it is well made).

Hard liquor I lean toward bourbon or tequila, but I don't shy away from much of anything.

scotch and soda, guinness or murphy's stout are my default drinks. if i just want something tasty i go with vodka and cranberry. if i'm tired i do the vodka and red bull. if i'm at a wedding or casino i go with manhattans (the bartenders there tend to be better at making cocktails than at a dive bar, where it would be shit), which is also what i drink at home.

i love them too. :drunk:

but on a side note:
a bar tender at an irish pub in philly gave me shit all night for ordering a black and tan and expecting it to look like the above. he schooled me that what i (and you) think as black and tan is really a half and half.
according to this bar tender,
black and tan is a mix porter and ale (like the ones yeungling bottles) and is not layered
half and half is stout and lager (guiness and harp) and is layered

i don't know if that is just a philly thing, but at every other irish pub i have been to i have always asked for a black and tan and got the stout and lager layered.

For all you microbrew guys, I recommend Dogfish Head, if you haven't tried it yet. We have an abundance, because it's brewed in Southern DE...not sure what its range is, but they brew some of the best IPAs I've ever tried.

drinking cheap: miller light, and expecting a hangover

I'm sure I'll get killed for this, but cheap beer drinking pecking order goes:

Yuenglng (it's way cheap here, because it's brewed up the road) > PBR (yes, PBR) > Old Style > Miller/Miller Lite > Budweiser/Bud Light > Rolling Rock > Coors Light > Natty Light

That was prettty much college for me.

Yuengling used to be just a PA beer, then it got bought out and the quality IMO really dropped. It's still ok, but not great. It's best if it's real fresh

There is a lot to be said for Miller High Life, the Champagne of beers. I drank enough of that shit in college to fill an oil tanker.

I absolutely cannot stand Bud...

Rolling Rock is slightly stronger than water, whereas you'll actually get buzzed off Mercury poisioning from drinking water, more quickly than you'll get buzzed on Coors Light.

Old Style's not bad...again neither Old Style nor PBR are by any means a beverage of choice, or in fact good beers.

But hey, if you're looking for a couple cheap 30 packs for the road (we have no open container law, and passengers in cars are allowed to drink, in Delaware), I'd take them over the others.

Never tried Hamms.

Agreed...I've gotten some BAD bottles of Yuengling over the last year or so.

Still, considering most places here you can get it $1 a pint on tap during Happy Hour, in comparision to the other cheap beers, it's way better.

Yuengling started in PA. But they had breweries in New York and Canada at the turn of the last century. There are two breweries in PA and a new one they opened in Florida.

It's still owned by Yuengling family and has not been bought out.

I still find Yuengling in the bottle the best. Out of the tap, you're at the hands of a bar who either cleans it's lines regularly, or not... so always go for the bottle.

Seems like they opened a new brewery in 1999 or so, which may explain why the beer tasted better in 1998 than today. Or my taste in beer changed from when I was 18.
